I think there's a very good chance of this. They have double figures numbers of guys on the 60 day IL right now, those guys will all have to be added back to the 40 man roster in the offseason (with the exception of Hudson or any other FAs). They have a bunch of guys whose contracts will clear out (Kershaw, Heyward, Hernandez). I count something like a dozen guys who are arb eligible on their team.

Like the return, though. Dodgers have like 8 legit guys AA or above.  They absolutely needed to get 1 of them. Now, how much is he going to regress under the Sox piss-poor pitching development?

Thompson's $1.5 salary offsets some of the cost. But I still wouldn't be surprised to learn the Sox ate something since they got a couple of decent prospects.

Probably balances out the money and if we're being totally honest - the White Sox actually need a backup CF to give Robert a few days off the rest of the way. If that's all he does, that's useful. 

I would put Nastrini somewhere in the Sox top 6 prospects. I'd say he's ahead of everyone else in AA (Thompson, Mena, Cannon, Kelley).  So like 5th or 6th, depending on how you value Ramos.

At worst Trayce is a solid 4th OF the rest of the year.  Not that any of it matters.

Outstanding return, Lynn was DFA worthy and Kelly wasn’t getting it done here and you got a legit prospect for them. 
 

Any major victory for Rick Hahn and the front office! Dude has been crushing it this week. 

Now let's trade Cease and Robert and really stock the farm. If we can't compete in the actual standings then we might as well win the prospect ranking game!

Rick Hahn excels at two things: Tear downs and extending young players

So he definitely needs to be gone after this.

That or cheaper one-year contracts for reclamation projects, guys off poor years or injury prone starters. Try to catch them in a turnaround year so we can sell them in next year’s deadline for more farm talent.
