Would You Take a Chance

Featured Replies

if during this off season the Tigers decided to put Javy Baez on the market would you want the Sox to take a run on him?   What if they agreed to eat half of his salary?  i’m guessing Detroit would agree to about any trade for him.  i know his numbers are BRUTAL with the Tigers, but is there a chance this guy can turn it around?

No. But keep in mind that Hahn is a lifelong Cubs fan. If the Tigers pay most of the money, Hahn might bring Baez here.

Play the young bucks.

Baez has an opt out after this season, is due $98M over the final four years if he declines to use it.

Not sure why they would want him through 2027, even for half $49M, with Montgomery likely on track in 2025.

That said, his power numbers would improve in a different ballpark, think $12M a year for a contending team would make sense if Tigers ate half and shipped him. Definitely a better option than Elvis Andrus if the Sox were in a contention window, and you shift Tim to 2B.

If the Sox are indeed preparing to go through another multi year rebuild, they should explore taking on bad contracts as long as they can get some serious prospects coming back to them. It’s something they should’ve did during the last rebuild but didn’t do, maybe JR is opposed to doing it.

If I were the Sox I’d ask Detroit how much money do I have to eat of this contract to get Jackson Jobe.

Baez is closer to a DFA candidate than a trade candidate.

Not a bloody chance in hell.

Rather take a chance on Willson

I'd rather have diarrhea for a week

  1. Open up a new table
  2. Go to MLB Pipeline
  3. Select Top 100 prospects
  4. Ctrl + F "tigers"
  5. Scroll past Max Clark since he was just drafted.
  6. Will they include Colt Keith?

If the Tigers eat 75% of the contract and include Max Clark and Jackson Jobe, then sure.

No thank you

How can someone watch this ball club and think the answer is Javy?!

They aren't now. Why would they then?

Fans of comedy.

Pretty much the only way. And then release Baez.

It the "name we know" scouting by fans.  We heard of them so they will do.   Veteran careers regress here. He doesn't need help in that.

For those of you betting the over/under on when Sox fans would turn to drugs, the answer is apparently August 12th
