That's pretty cool. I liked Bannister hire and Barfield. The guy from Rice I dont know about.

I know he has limits placed on him and all but I still dont like Getz apparent Limp Dick Ball strategy they seem to want to pivot too. Yes we have to get better on D and be more athletic but there has to be a couple legit savages in the lineup too.

Then again we seem to be allergic to winning so it's not a surprise that were also allergic to savagery.

You can't win without superior power and high strikeout/groundball pitching at GRF.

The barbarian hordes are back at the gates if Cease goes into the regular season as OD starter and somehow manages to get hurt.

100% feels like we are are relying on starting pitchers going down on expected/predicted playoff teams to get a deal done now.

If Moustakas (35), Pillar (35) and Mendick (30) are all on the Opening Day roster, fire Chris Getz.

https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/white-sox-2024-opening-day-roster

Pedro is a dipstick, but assuming Tony is not running the show, Getz is at minimum enabling this behavior and likely in agreement.

Quote

Bench/Utility (3): Kevin Pillar, Danny Mendick, Mike Moustakas

“At the end of the day, it’s probably not going to be who had the best stats in the spring,” Grifol said. “It’s going to be on who helps us win many different ways off the bench.”

You have the next two years to see what, if anything, you have with Colas (25), Sosa (24), Lee (25), Shewmake (26), DeLoach (25), perhaps Burdick (27).  I'm not advocating for starting the clock on the top prospects who will benefit from more time in AA/AAA, but for these guys, you can perhaps get a solid player out of one or two of these guys if you play them regularly and work correcting any deficiencies.

it's not the time to "win many different ways" with AARP guys with no upside or trade value. It's bad enough they are going with both Maldonado (37) + Stassi (33), Lopez (29) and DeJong (30).

That is really a quote? God this guy sucks, how about the stats in the regular season for the last three years? Does that count

Truly inspirational stuff.  The marketing department must want to put out a figurative hit on him at this point.

Are they ever going to hire a hitting equivalent to Bannister?

Getz is trying to convince Jerry to spend $7k on a Charlie Lau Hologram with 18 preprogrammed personal player instructions to choose from.

Jerry said like any purchase, only if ISFA pays for it. The Sox will present this proposal at the next ISFA board meeting.

Meanwhile, Jerry contacted the business behind Getz’ back to inquire on the possibilities of creating a hologram based front office and administrative staff, programmed to carry out his or Tony’s instructions on how to operate The White Sox Way!

This is the problem with retaining a coach who clearly sucks.

Even someone as delusional as Grifol recognizes that he’s on the hot seat. He's in survival mode. His decisions are going to be based on what he deems best in the short-term, because that's all he's guaranteed to be here for.

Finding out what we have in Colas, Sosa, Lee, etc. and being patient through their growing pains is what's best long-term (heck, probably short-term as well), but Pedro likely sees it as a one-way ticket out of town.

It's incumbent on Getz to be clear with Pedro and the coaching staff what the priorities are, and that they will be judged on long term considerations, not wins and losses. If Getz is prioritizing win now, which his February moves and NRIs plus Merkin's tea-leaves indicate, Getz is the primary problem, not Pedro.

Also, someone needs to work with both Pedro and Getz to improve their communication skills.

Then it is up to Getz to impress upon him that it's either do as he is told, or get fired.

Too late for that. Getz should have brought his own guy (stooge) in.

I'll tell you what, this is gonna be the grindiest group of grinders that ever ground.

SF Giants seem to be taking the opposite approach with their veteran players...thinking that moving on will make it easier for young players feeling there's a margin of error or comfort level with an established between on the roster trying to take their starting spot back.

Same approach the Sox are taking - we're letting our veterans walk.

The difference is that the Sox are replacing them with more decrepit veterans.

Time will tell if Jerry will ever allow Chris Getz to spend $10M plus on a player before he dies.

For all the s%*# slung on SoxTalk at Tim Anderson and Jose Abreu in 2023, they were among the few players signed by Rick Hahn which were an actual steal by the organization.

We still have yet to see if Bannister is even the real deal.  Let’s see how all these guys pitch in the regular season.

What does that have to do with my question?

Hire the guy that's kept Jerry clueless as far as what to say and how to say it for 40 years.

What's this doing on page 3??

Thread deserves a bump after that 8 spot from the Royals against a couple of Getzys shitty pitchers.

Well, there's no easy solutions stowed away just waiting at Charlotte either.
