I can’t tell if this kid is very smart or a complete idiot. Very odd how he’s gone about this whole process. Pretty obvious it’s not about the $, so I wonder what the main sticking point is for him?

"It is unknown precisely how many teams Sasaki met with. The Dodgers, Mets, Yankees, Cubs, Giants, and Rangers all reportedly received an in-person meeting with him. But there could be others. Wolfe declined to list any teams or provide a number during a webinar with reporters to update where things stand with the coveted pitcher."

“The timeline for Round 2 is going to lead right up until he signs,” Wolfe said. “We’re still talking and having Zoom calls. So I don’t have a precise timeline for that, like we did for the meetings. Teams will be notified at some point if there’s going to be additional meetings or travel or something like that. But other than that, I don’t believe there’s going to be any specific timeline.”

Seems to be comfort level, which at his age switching countries/cultures seems like a wise decision.

I'm sure the Sox "presentation' was probably laughed at.

The monetary differences are minimal because this is bonus money from the international bonus pool, so it has to be based on other things.  He's looking for his home for the next six years and has absolutely every team in baseball wanting him. It would be odd if he didn't take his time

I get that, but at the end of the day aren’t the guys he will be sharing a locker room with day in and day out going to determine that level of comfort?
The whole not wanting players thing at his meetings thing throws me off a bit. But now that I’m looking at the list of teams in the last article posted I guess it’s not all that weird.

And my original post was for sure worded poorly, idiot was too harsh of a word. He for sure should take whatever time and process he wants. Just doesn’t seem like he’s going the typical route is what I was getting at

I would think he just doesn't want his decision to be distracted by Ohtani and Yamamoto.

The only other guy who has been able to go this "route" was Ohtani.

Shares same agent with Darvish.

Personal hero/role model for Sasaski in Darvish.

One would think this is the one place where an exception would be made to the rule of sending players/recruiters...but obviously they can pick up the phone or video call any time they want.

It's more about he must feel uncomfortable being pressed or recruited in another language...maybe it's something innocuous like that (about not sending players to LA to woo him).

That almost looks like a typo

Why did he feel it necessary to say “not the White Sox”? It feels like salt in the wound.

Wonderful use of punctuation there, Bowden

Not the White Sox.

How apropos. The 2025 mantra.

Bowden saying this makes me feel like there's a chance.

But the top notched random Twitter posters said the White Sox were finalists even before he met with anyone.

I think that

Feels like “and” would make more sense than “not” given the rest of the tweet, but obviously I wouldn’t put money on us still being in the mix

It has been four hours and no further correction or clarification.

Maybe he meant what he said.

Sad that media can report news and information to the public without having to make a television appearance or publish an article by just typing 7 words and they do it so poorly and don’t even take the time to go back and read it. Every informal text message I’ve ever sent anyone reads better than that.

That’s the funniest tweet he’s ever written though I give him props. I laughed extremely hard.

Bowden just said “You, you, you, you, NOT YOU, and you”

I mean…I don’t think it was at all realistic to expect him to want to come here. But I do appreciate they seemed to make a genuine effort to go through the courting process if for no other reason than it’s good practice for down the road when hopefully we’re better positioned for similar circumstances.
