Crochet Traded to Boston

maybe Quero is a first baseman. I think it's interesting that they hire this catching guy from the Brewers and then the return is another catcher.

Someone is bound to move to 1B or LF down the road.  Lee as C # 2

  • I would say I’m satisfied…not over or underwhelmed.  It’s nice not having to worry about Crochet’s elbow exploding

  • Disappointed they didn't include Benintendi though, the sox saving money was a big issue for me.

  • Morosi saying Boston caved today to include Teel AND Montgomery

Pretty impressive? Two T60 mlb prospects and two other 45 FV interesting names. This is a better deal than I could have imagined.

Trying not to be too enthusiastic, but I really like it.  When I first heard Teel was the headliner (and not someone like Mayer), I was a bit apprehensive.  But this is a great return.

I don't know whose defense is viewed higher, but obviously one of Teel/Quero will move to 1st at some point.

If you double up with Teel/Quero splitting time catching and DH'ing that's a nice solution. I love both bats. I wanted Montgomery back in July so love that they got him. This is a nice deal.

Meidroth's approach sounds wonderful. I'd like to see what dude can do.

Is the thinking that Teel could be with the MLB team in 2025?

B-R has Teel as a Catcher/Outfielder

Initial reactions to this seem much more positive than the Cease trade, although that’s not a high bar

Holy f***. If so, Getz heisttt

You must love this deal.  Some quality but big time quantity.

Now that we have both Montgomery's, we're basically the A's with Rickey Henderson and Dave Henderson.

Ok it seems is now a better return than I expected although I am cautiously optimistic how Montgomery recovers from broken ankle but he could have been top 5 if he wouldn't have broken his ankle at the end of the season.

We're already doing the short 1B thing so hopefully not Quero.

I think that’s the right place to be.  I didn’t know anything about Meidroth and his stats are impressive but it looks like he’s a little guy unfortunately.

105 BBs to 71 Ks in AAA.  That's...pretty good.

I definitely like this move more than the Cease move.

I think there is a place on the team for a little guy, just not when you draft him 3rd or 4th or whatever Madrigal was.

The fact is, as long as JR is around, the better he pitched, the less chance the Sox ever had of having him around in 2 years, so even if he pitched great the first half this year, the less control cost the Sox, and I still find it hard to imagine he makes it through another season unscathed. Hopefully, this turns into the best deal that was offered, There's some to really like here, and no real bust probable guys. He had to go.

Yep, put the scrappy bastard out there and see what he can do.

Teel and Montgomery were two of my favorite names from the last two drafts. f*** yea. This past spring, I optimistically speculated that Crochet could return one 50/55 FV prospect and another 45 FV prospect. Boy, was I wrong. Way underestimated him. This is clearly a better return than what they got for Cease. Just goes to show how the league values Crochet relative to Cease despite the limited track record.

Pretty sure KLaw has the two main guys in his top 40

yeah. One - it's position player heavy. To do that, we didn't get the top 30 guys we'd hoped (though probably could have in more of a one-for-one way). I'd say this is the 'fan' market, but doesn't mean they scouted well here. I hope so.

I was talking myself 100% into brewers deal, but this is a good amount of quality here. Not the biggest Braden montgomery guy, but do like that he has the same last name as Colson. Wouldn't mind exploring getting all montgomerys.

None of the new acquisitions go onto the 40-man, either.
