Our savior is gone!  🤣

Cutting the dude after he fractured his thumb?  Pretty ruthless…

He will get an injury settlement

It’s ruthless to cut a NRI who got injured and who would have required us to DFA another player to make room on the 40 man roster?

  • JR thinks a whole roster of cast-offs will be ultra-entaining for the fans to watch.  Pathetic!

  • To start the year, I agree. Once they have Keel, quero and Montgomery up it will be more interesting at least. I think the pitching will be better overall.

Drury can actually play, but what's the point? I'd much rather see any one of Sosa/Ramos/Baldwin/Meidroth/Vargas whoever play the infield instead of him.

Oscar and Fletcher got sent down too...days ago but I'm just noticing. Oscar seems completely done-zo but might've figured Fletcher was getting a spot on the bench instead of Taylor...who Fangraphs apparently thinks is starting in left with Benintendi moving to DH. Might've given the spot to Ramos who I guess is injured...Drury seems like a better option than Taylor come to think of it.

On the topic of Varland. A week or so before ST started, I was listening to various podcasts in my excitement for the season to get going.

And on one of them, I think it was the Chuck Garfien one, Ethan Katz was a guest. Again, it was a day or two before official Sprint Training was supposed to start.

Anyway, there were two pitchers that Katz was really high on, really talking them up about how they had improved and, whatever, his high expectations for them this year.

One was Varland and the other was Cannon. The punch line is that both of them have stunk up this spring.

I'm not sure what to think about that, but for one thing, Katz has lost a lot of credibility with me.

Because of bad performances in exhibition games?

I’m a big time George Wolkow homer. Believe in that kid.

Taylor=guaranteed contract prematurely awarded to hedge on Robert trade.

Didn’t Drury get hurt in a random collision?  Not sure age has anything to do with this.

I'm wondering if he didn't punch something or someone. They scratched him before the game a couple days ago and gave that reason. But I was thinking how many pregame drills use runners that can result in a collision at 1st.

Probably just letting my imagination run wild. Lineup was probably made a couple hours before the game started .Still seems odd though that he'd be released. They need hitters.

Wanna bet? I think one of those four is an Opening Day starter in 2026. There’s literally no one in front of them. It’s a desert.

So you think one of Wolkow, Braden Montgomery, McLain and Zavala will be a starting OF on Opening Day next year ?

I'd make a bet on that. I'm always game for taking opposing view points on what seems to be an a longshot.

good point. I like Taylor and, at this point, I probably should just realize Fletcher isn't a MLB player and doesn't have the speed to cover CF except as a backup. Team is probably better off with Taylor. Not going to lose sleep over it.

Here's to hoping we trade with Philly on Robert and get back Justin Crawford somehow. Baseball America dinged his prospect status a little bit, but two outfield positions filled by Crawford/Montgomery is something I'd be excited for.

Guess Getz and JR plan is to break last years loss record. Makes zero sense.

This is going to be the most desperately terrible team that ever started a season .

There’s a good possibility this team will be just as bad as last year.

That’s pretty generous. It looks worse to me, at least to start the season.

They remind me of the St. Louis Browns in the late 40's.

It’s like on election night when a state is called for a candidate as soon as the polling closes.  Once the first pitch is thrown, the Sox are eliminated.

Vaughn 1B

Meidroth 2B/SS

Vargas 3B

Baldwin IF/OF

Lee C

Theiss C

Robert CF

Benintendi LF

Slater OF

Jankowski OF

Taylor OF

Sosa 2B/3B

Nick Maton IF/OF

It's going to be like this until after the lockout.  Reinsdorf isn't going to spend any money until a new CBA is in place.

If the lockout lasts as long as many think it will JR may not be around himself anyway.

Bottom line though the owners aren't getting that salary cap they are trying to get yet again.

Drury will sign with someone, maybe even the White Sox after he heals.

Narvaez released and Meidroth told he's not making the team.  Those 13 players just got harder to find.

That's 2 you have to add to 40-man but we were going to do that anyway if Meidroth and Drury made the team.

Yeah, that is likely the group.  This team might lose 130.

Wow, hopefully Baldwin is the primary SS then.  As big of a Meidroth fan I am and how little I value spring training results, it’s really hard to say he forced the issue.  And in a losing season, you might as well manipulate that service time.

100%. I think this is the right decision even if he had a much better spring.
