I know I have been wrong about quite a few players over the years, but I really am surprised how bad Vaughn was in the MLB.

It's seems exclusively to the White Sox.

2 things happen - they become useful to another team or they are out of baseball

BREAKING: Aaron Civale requests trade from White Sox

Brewers: We are honoring your request and trading you to the White Sox.

Civale: Oh, I think you misheard what I said.  I said I wanted a FADE, as in a new haircut.  Sorry for any confusion!

Brewers: Too late.

Civale: I'll go to the bullpen and be good.  I won't complain at all.  I swear!

Brewers: Sorry, it's a done deal.

Civale: *stomps foot* I hate you!

For who?  Jerry?  It won't be spent on the team.

As mentioned earlier, it was a trade for our s%*# for their s%*#.

Yeah but an experienced veteran starting pitcher is way better s%*# than a 1B who cant hit, field, or run.

FIP of 5.53 could be scary coming here.

His last 180 IP haven't been great, but a lot of that is related to a change in pitch mix that hasn't worked and has been odd - hes moved away from his slider which was one of his best pitches and hes moved away from his curve which is his best pitch. He's become fastball heavy.

The arm talent and strength is still there.

Gavin has put up more WAR in 60 games in SD, than he did in 435 games in Chicago. Maybe it isn't the player at fault, but the organization and their choices?

People will say this is hindsight but I was leaning more towards Sheets if they were only going to go with one going forward in the offseason, basically just because of the lefty bat.

However, I didn't really want to bring back either though, especially not Vaughn.

Edit: this isn't like an "I'm pissed they didn't keep Sheets" post. Because I also doubt he would be doing here what he's been doing in SD.

Sad day for Stoney and Tony.

I wonder if Stone Pony is still going to talk about how Vaughn is ready to break out at any moment.

That Osik dude was probably right and Vaughn is just a lazy ass that took his talent and career for granted.

I don't know about pro-Sheets, but tendering a contract to Vaughn in the off season was stupid then, and it didn't work out any better in hindsight.
