Colson Montgomery has arrived

I hope a full offseason at the major league level will help him correct the strikeout issue.  If he can get that contact up that would really be ideal for him being the cornerstone

When can SSS be excluded and the reality that he is a dude?

I would have thought that 199 PAs would be long enough for the league to take notice and develop an approach to him, and maybe his .227 BA and .288 OBP is the league adjusting to him. He'd have to show some growth over the winter and start getting on base regularly next year. You can't just live off of mistakes, but Paul DeJong still gets rostered.

I kinda think 220/280/520 is just who he is. Pair that with solid work at SS defensively and while not quite a super star, certainly in today's game a star and valuable player. If he can improve to something like 250/320/550 he's a super star.

The metrics think he's been a bit unlucky on BABIP, we'll see how it trends over his career.

Colson isn't the kind of player I would ever say "he is who he is" too. Development, adapting and evolving his game to the league is a skill and it's one I think he has. He's really been closer to a 250 hitter this year without the bad batted ball luck.

The kid hits tanks left and right. I don't need to see anything again to be a believer. I'm a believer 10000%, and if anything I think we're just seeing the surface being scratched with him. He's probably still a couple thousands AB's behind his southern and west coast peers.

If he can get the contact rate up and stay healthy, at that point, he legit looks like a bonafide MVP type candidate. That said - until I see a more sustained contact rate I’ll continue to want to see this play out over a more extended sample size.

Cubs passed on him for Jordan Wicks btw

I hate the Cubs. Yet as  long as the Cubs are ahead of us in the standings and overall development of the roster and organizational support systems, it’s difficult to take a lot of schadenfreudesque cuts at them.

Yep, we Sox fans should be the last people to poke fun at the crosstown rivals skipping over someone we picked later.  We picked Nick Madrigal at #3 and the Cubs took Nico Hoerner at #24.  Ouch.   And how about that guy we picked just ahead of Ian Happ?  Woof!
