Don't get me wrong - there is an advantage to having the #1 vs. #5 pick - but the reality is - the MLB draft is so much different than football and/or basketball where the impact being all the way at the top in the right draft just isn't the same as it is in other sports - especially the NBA. I don't get why fans think MLB draft is like the other sports. It's a much larger margin for error. I just hope the Sox land a franchise player in the draft someday and it's not a pitcher. They've made a lot of bad choices on their first pick and if you mess those up to where they are not in baseball it still sets a team back for a long time. I want that player who spends less time in the minors and is a 22 year old stud. Somehow Jerry would ruin that.
caulfield12
Grade C The Pope’s team didn’t have a lot to trade after last year’s fire sale, but it was certainly interesting that GM Chris Getz held on to Luis Robert Jr. The mercurial outfielder has a $20 million team option for next year, an option that given his rough start to this season did not appear likely to be picked up. But the Sox didn’t deal Robert, likely because they value him as a controllable player while other teams saw him as a rental. They’ll hope he continues rebounding enough that they can justify picking up his option. That’s a nice haul for Houser, whom the Sox scooped up off the scrap heap earlier this year. yahoo.com/sports

He's a warm body but I don't know if he's even on the 40 man this time next year. Have you looked at the projection lately on Robert on Fangraphs ? They are really low .For example even though his last two years he had a career year and played over 100 games both years , all projections had him playing 48 games. He had already surpassed the BsR and defensive WAR projections but far below offensive WAR projections.

nrockway
Doesn’t look like Mead has been assigned to the active or even 40-man roster yet. Is that normal? I don’t know if it’s just delayed, but Julks has been purportedly assigned to Chicago since the trade (not for houser but the lost in space guy who I didn’t even realize was on the team). I looked at his MILB profile on my phone and it said his last game was 7/13....which was either wrong or I'm illiterate. probably the latter. a double and three walks 👀 1

Timmy U
Mead at 2b Sosa at 1b? Or vice versa? Keep Baldwin at 3b and bench Rojas. Please.

GreenSox
The Dodgers got Tibbs, who is now their #7 prospect, for the rent of Dustin May and his negative WAR. Tibbs was the Giants #1 pick in 2024 and plays outfield. And somehow the Dodgers get 3 prospects for aging C prospect Hunter Fiduccia, from the very same team, Rays, we’ve been sending players to all year. K Lee anyone?

That's what spending a lot of money on good scouts and talent evaluators will get you. JR still hasn't learned that lesson.
