Are you "most"?  Because it seems like you are here complaining.

I rarely complain as I dont pretend to know the actual value of the prospects or what other teams have offered.

A Cubs 11th-round pick in 2021 as a New York high schooler, Ziehl put his pro career on hold to attend Miami. He led the Hurricanes in appearances as a freshman, then became their best starter during the next two seasons. The Yankees began the 2024 Draft by selecting college pitchers with each of their first seven picks and signed him for $637,000 as their fourth-rounder.

Ziehl's ability to command his fastball stands out more than its velocity and life, as it operates at 92-94 mph and reaches 96 with modest ride and run. He misses more bats with a sweeping mid-80s slider that grades as a plus pitch with two-plane depth at its best. He imparts fade and sink on a mid-80s changeup but has difficulty keeping it in the zone.

At 6 feet and 223 pounds, Ziehl is compact but strong and durable. He's a tough competitor who repeats his high three-quarters delivery with ease, enabling him to locate his fastball and slide with precision. The Yankees have a history of helping pitchers upgrade their stuff, and doing so with Ziehl would raise his current ceiling of a No. 4 starter.

Beating the pre-emptive complaining about complaining...

This seems about a fair return.  Sure it isn't a positional return, but if the pitching offers are that much higher, we definitely still need pitching.

I don’t have a problem with return, will say I have never enjoyed trading with Yankees. They tend to be very good at self scouting and keeping who is worth a damn

Appears to be a flyer like was expected. Maybe can compete for an end of rotation spot at some point. Never can have enough arms so I'm fine with adding a lower end prospect.

Yep, sounds like a back end rotation starter at best.  Better than a 26 year old bullpen arm.

BA writeup.

Quote

18. Gage Ziehl -RHP

Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 212 | B-T: R-R

Age: 22

BA Grade: 45/High

Track Record: Ziehl is a native New Yorker whose career at Penfield High earned him a selection by the Cubs in the 2021 draft. Instead, he landed at Miami, spent his freshman season as a reliever and then was a part of the Hurricanes’ rotation for his final two collegiate years. The Yankees drafted him in the fourth round in 2024 and signed him for a slightly over-slot bonus of $637,000. He did not pitch after signing.

Scouting Report: Ziehl is a thick-bodied righthander with a powerful trio of pitches. His four-seam fastball sits around 93 mph but can reach up to 97 mph. It is backed mostly by a short, sweepy slider in the mid 80s. He has an excellent feel for the slider and threw it for strikes nearly 70% of the time during his final season in Coral Gables. To combat lefthanders, Ziehl employs a mid-80s changeup with solid fading action. He is a polished strike-thrower who mixes, matches and methodically pounds the zone. He walked just 6.3% of hitters in his draft year.

The Future: Ziehl was part of a seven-pitcher run the Yankees used to start the draft. Like the rest of the group, he is big, physical and has the stuff to overpower hitters. Teams in recent years have struck gold by taking pitchers off of Miami’s staff. The Yankees hope Ziehl is the latest Hurricane to take the sport by storm.

Scouting Grades: Fastball: 50 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 55.

You get a 22 year old SP prospect for a dumpster dive signing, A+ in my book. I would have figured he was more likely to be DFA'd than used to get a pitching prospect if I was betting before the season started.
