Its no joke fielding high popups and fly balls in the AZ. sky on sunny days.

We havent seen the Sox players looking particularly bad yet but we will.

Detroit has spring training in Florida.

What did they say about the Sox?

Reader asked if any of the current starting pitcher core is worth keeping. They said Shane Smith. Somebody asked about a rumored Houston interest in Benintendi, and they threw cold water.

Loperfido/Z.Cole/Meyers projected OF with Alvarez DH and Cam Smith/Paredes fighting for playing time.

MLB Mailbag: Giolito, Littell, Kopech, White Sox, Mets - MLB Trade Rumors

Quote

According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, “[Astros GM Dana] Brown has not hidden his desire to add an established, left-handed-hitting outfielder to the Astros’ otherwise unsettled group. Any potential return for [Isaac] Paredes is likely to include one. Brown acknowledged before the team’s workout on Friday that he is ‘still focused on left-handed bats,’ even after landing one in [Joey] Loperfido.”

I suppose that could include Benintendi, but he’s a rough fit for a team that plans to use Yordan Alvarez mostly at DH.  It’d actually have to be the White Sox including prospects to convince the Astros to take on some of Benintendi’s contract, but he’s not a good enough hitter for Houston to bother.

JR isn't suddenly going be cutting $10+ million checks, but HOU shouldn't be so cocky with an outfield comparable to CLE and KC at this point.

That said, it's not like Benintendi is playable in RF, either.

And one year ago Cam Smith was a strong RoY candidate in RF.

Yeah, nobody is taking Benintendi’s contract. It’s whatever at this point. They might as well keep him for this season. If he has another dud year, hopefully they cut the cord early in 2027.

Max Scherzer back to Jays, just $3 million/1 year

White Sox at least are keeping Brooke Fletcher...as their sideline/field reporter

I just did some research.  I wonder if she can do play-by-play and replace Schriffen.

I'd say 75-80% odds she does it better coming from a baseball for life family background.

Something that's basically in your blood or not.

Like fine art. opera or ballet for some.

If you just grow to appreciate it, you can never be a great broadcaster.

I feel like you’re devaluing the technical skills side of it quite a bit.

It would be a rough transition, but she always comes off as likeable and earnest.

Sure, in the 90's, there was the belief you had to study broadcasting/journalism at Syracuse.
