MLB players can't play in the early exhibitions, which is part of Mune's reason for staying in camp a few extra days. Comes across as so mature for someone not yet 23. I really value the game/pitcher management side of catching and I rate him over Teel there, so he'd get the bulk of games at C if it were up to me. But I won't complain about being a bit spoiled at the position. When it comes to ABS challenges, the MiLB data shows that catchers are comfortably the most accurate with challenges, batters are a bit worse, and pitchers are pretty terrible. Quero was good with them from both sides of the plate in AAA due to his plus zone recognition. All the inquiries about him were about recognizing his talent and trying to get him before he reaches his full potential. I realize Teel is the real deal too. He hit all 8 of his HR's in the 2nd half and his OPS was .833 ! He only had 300 AB last year. He could easily double his HR total. The good thing is, while bat speed is important ,it's not the end all be all of professional hitting. It's really important to pulling and power hitting but may hurt you if you have an all fields approach to hitting or as Quero calls it being a professional hitter. Robert had a fast bat and with his strength balls went a long way but recognizing pitches and injuries led to massive inconsistencies. Quero potential is more based on the mental side of hitting, the science behind it , knowing how pitchers think. A lot of times you can have all the physical gifts in the world but the mental part, dealing with failure, making adjustments is what prevents many , many players from taking the next steps. That emotional and intellectual development puts you way ahead of the curve if you have it at a young age. Im not saying he's the better player than Teel. Im just saying they both have a lot of room to grow and need to get as many PA as possible. Id put Acuna , Sosa Baldwin in the same category. Upside high need runway. Guys like Colson and Mune will play almost every day regardless so I'm not counting them.
