If he didn't fans would complain that he doesn't know what's going on with his players. I think we understand the difference between comments from the player, the manager, a trainer, a doctor who is treating him, and a doctor who isn't.

But the fact is at least with the Sox, I don't know about other teams, rarely very rarely has a medical professional ever cleared up medical confusion.
All asking a manager to talk about medical issues is muddy the waters and cause more complaining from the fan base when what they are saying doesn't come to pass or is flat out wrong.

Or the organization can come out Getz for example, and say we 'will not comment on player injuries at all moving forward because of HIPPA laws.'

One might think that "fans" who scream every time they don't know exactly how a player's bowel movement looked like this morning might understand that an injury doesn't heal on schedule. And you can do all the resting, icing, and taking the proper meds for a week, then one day's better, the next day seems worse. You sleep funny. I just think that the people who squawk about transparency actually understand that nobody knows anything. Trainers, doctors, managers, or the players themselves can't tell you exactly where an injury is, or what the exact timeline is. They're not going to run daily MRIs just so sports radio can speculate even more wildly.

The manager's kind of the spokesman for the team on a daily basis. Getz only talks to the media maybe once a series or homestand, right?

No mention of Quero....

Makes perfect sense to send Quero down when KT is back. Have to get his swing right even though there has been some signs of life and a few shots hit right at people as of late.

Getting Teel back will feel like this lineup is extended so much more.

With how much time he has missed I feel like he needs a good week unless he just dominates

Getz made it sound like it wouldn’t be short previously as they mentioned missing spring training and needing catching reps.

Maybe have him up for the Minnesota series on the 25th? That starts a string against the central.

It's annoying not to have him, but I don't really feel that alarmed. From what has been said about it, it seems the "setback" was merely that when they pushed him all the way to full-speed sprinting, he was continuing to feel the catch associated with the initial injury. I don't think we have any particular reason to believe that he reinjured it...it's just not fully healed. Or at least it wasn't a couple weeks ago. Brooke said during the broadcast in LA that he had reached a stage at which the main focus was his ability to bounce back after full speed workouts and that he had just reported not feeling sore after such a workout. I believe it was during the pregame show so I can't find a recording anywhere since CHSN doesn't seem to archive much of anything. Wouldn't surprise me if the Sox are trying to be as cautious as humanly possible with it.

Best data I can find is that in pro sports, about a third of players who pull a hamstring will have a recurrence of it within that same season. And when it recurs, it's usually worse. So they are trying to protect him. And, of course, it's not the White Sox propping up those 33% recurrence rate numbers. It's hard to keep guys perfectly healthy.

Bright side is there's not really a ton of risk of a serious long-term problem that extends beyond this season. Just a matter of getting him 100% and being as sure as you can be that it's not about to snap back (pardon the pun). Then you avoid injuring some other part of his lower half from compensation.

Very good post. It sure beats the woe is me, typical White Sox stuff as if this stuff doesnt exist all over sports .Every team in every sport has guys who take longer to heal and predicting the amount of time they will miss is in general. It's an approximation. My Grade 2 pulled hamstring is not the same as anyone else. Body types, weight, muscle mass, blood flow all kinds of things differentiate injuries and healing time depends on your body's response to treatments .

He needs at last 7 games down there and you are going to need to give rest days so I think 12 days or so.

The issue though is other teams have the depth and the ability through various means to overcome things like this. (And I'm not specifically referring to Teel but the run of serious injuries that have gutted this franchise sine 2018.)

The Yankees lose half their outfield last year or two years ago and still win 90+ games, the Cubs have half their pitchers on the IL yet they have one of the best records in baseball.

The Sox lose two or three of their better guys and the record the last several seasons speak for itself.

This is where not having a good minor league system flat kills your chances.

I’m starting to have some faith in Getz and I think he will do a good job in building a good farm system, the thing is JR doesn’t like spending money on potential so Getz will have his hands tied unless JR has changed his thinking.

Like no more than 4 or 5 teams have this.

Why continually torture yourself by comparing the low payroll Sox in the waning years or JR's life and ownership in a massive rebuild to thriving franchises ?

Yes I know being a Sox fan is a lousy thing so what ? I dont compare it to being a Yankee fan or Cubs fan. We arent those franchises .cursing the fate of being born into liking the Sox doesnt bother me as much as other die hards. If these thing truly bother ed me Id just find something else to frustrate me or give me a more pleasurable experience. Maybe Im just fascinated why others choose misery over contentment. I have no choice in how the team is run. Complaining about it doesnt fix anything. I still have complaints sure because I care but not to the point where it puts me in a bad state of mind or where I have to make up things to try to convince others that its even worse than the actual truth. Look forward not back.

I’d like Teel back for the Cubs series but that’s probably too soon given how much time he missed. They need to make sure he is in the swing of things again before he gets called up.

Take your own advice.

And really the Cubs are the better team and itll be tough even at home and playing well to beat them. The Royals series means much more . Lots of division series left to play .

Randal Grichuk made the Yankees' opening day roster, for heaven's sake.

The White Sox opened the season with a "historically worst outfield in all of baseball history", and they're playing .500 ball.

Can you explain how injuries this year are affecting previous seasons' records?

It's only like 4-5 teams that have not gone through a painful rebuild in the last 15 years. It's fanciful to pretend that 29 other teams win regularly, and the White Sox are the only team that has suffered losing seasons since 2018, or whatnot.
