Given the state of the staff if he's hurt that's a crusher.

I think fatigue. They should sit him until after the all star break. I had been proposing keeping Sandlin and going with a 6th starter - seems they need to do something right now. All star break will be coming at a good time. Mune also coming back at a good time!

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Gonzo can go back down to Charlotte and stop his arb clock once Mune is back. That's fine. He just got a nice pay pump for 6 weeks or whatever and now he knows he close he is and what he has to contin

His turn in the rotation won't come up again until next weekend

Maybe oversimplifying it, but I think Martin was just due for regression and we’re seeing it.

I still think he’s a fine 4 or 5, which is valuable.

Burke might be a dude, though. I have an easier time buying a breakout from him.

Possibly some regression along with fatigue. Hopefully the all star break gives these guys some much needed rest.

There's no doubt the Sox need more pitching. A starter (or two) and a bullpen arm. Fedde and Kay should hold up well and be able to eat a lot of innings. Martin and Burke will probably end up being somewhat inning limited. Shultz will definitely be limited. Picking up a good SP along with another veteran who can eat innings would help a lot. And one more quality arm for the bullpen would be great.

From Passan today.

With Munetaka Murakami's return from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for six weeks imminent, the White Sox find themselves in a tremendous position. They have actually gained four games in the standings since Murakami got hurt and now are primed to add a premier slugger to a lineup that's finally at full strength.

Which makes pitching even more of a priority. Davis Martin has been All-Star-worthy. Sean Burke is a solid midrotation arm. Anthony Kay is a perfectly solid back-end type. But the White Sox need a dude. And Detmers, the 27-year-old who isn't a free agent until after the 2028 season, is an ideal fit. Don't let his 4.13 ERA fool you. The stuff is premium, the strikeouts are plentiful and the ability to carve good lineups is vital for any potential White Sox playoff run.

At the same time, while Detmers is Chicago's best match, he's also a dream because it's unclear if Angels owner Arte Moreno will allow interim general manager John Mozeliak to trade any players with multiple years of club control. He should. The Angels need a face-lift, tummy tuck and 1,000 units of Botox. And the White Sox offer prospect optionality to fill a woebegone Angels system. Want an elite middle-infield glove? Billy Carlson is there. Exceptional bat-to-ball skills? William Bergolla can be had. Huge potential? Noah Schultz, come on down. The fit makes too much sense for both sides not to make it a reality.

I would trade Billy Carlson/Bergolla + for Detmers in a heartbeat. Mix and match some Boughton, De Pino as well if needed.

I think it’s a mix of regression and tiring out. I think Martin is likely a solid #3 starter or a high-end #4 on a championship caliber team. I think Burke has a higher ceiling than Davis for sure as we’ve seen lately. Just comes down to consistency for him, but I believe in the talent.

This I would also do. I am not giving up Schultz for him though.

What’s the infatuation with Detmers? Dude has been in the league for 6 years and has never come close to putting it together. Why are we giving up a top prospect in hopes that we can fix him?

They way things are shaping up Boston, Minnesota and Detroit may not be selling at the deadline making things even more complex and potentially difficult for Getz to get help.

The price of pitching is going to be very, very expensive.

We'll see what, if anything, the Sox can do to get help.
