We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

  • I'm pretty disinterested in Detmers for what his cost is likely to be. One season of 100+ IP with < 4 ERA in his career, so the upside is limited. And for folks who are worried about Martin's recen

I know this will be unpopular, but I wouldn't waste trade capital on a catcher, especially for a rental. I'd prefer they burry Quero in the 8/9 spot and hope the lineup gives him enough protection that we see a resurgent 2025 version of him. Losing Teel will suck, but it's not like they had him all that long this season to begin with. Just focus on pitching and bullpen help, IMO.

I agree. If anything, maybe a RHH backup that doesn't cost much.

Seems to be more popular than you thought haha. But I completely agree as well.

Go get Tyler Stephenson and either Brady Singer or Nick Lodolo from Cincy.

That's another good shout.

Lodolo and Stephenson, the first ask will be Bonemer.

And then you have Lodolo through just 2027, but no certainty over next year.

Really can’t even think about parting with Bonemer unless it’s team control through 2027 AND 2028.

Just not even sure what type of fallback position the Reds would even accept.

Probably both Hagen and McDougal…Sandlin and McDougal isn’t enough, either. Not with how good and durable Lodolo was in 2025.

Yep. Go with Quero and Romo (or DFA him and give Turner a shot) and hit them 8th (I would say 9th but I like the idea of a 2nd leadoff hitter in the 9 spot when the lineup flips)

Here's my trade proposal:

White Sox get: Good, under-the-radar pitcher
Other team gets: some Sox prospects

Like and follow.

There’s no such thing as good/young/“under the radar”/cost controlled with all the advances in major league front offices and analytics the last 10-15 years.

It’s pretty funny in the seasons that the Sox are good and we get to this time of season and invariably GreenSox gets super freaked out about trading anyone and everyone and ultimately falls into “doing nothing is best” on repeat

We can revisit the Quero/Romo crowd's opinions in the playoffs when they are both still really bad at the plate. That'll be a fun revisit. Can talk about 2027 then and the looming short season/no baseball.

Yep. At some point you do need to trade.

I am not saying don’t trade. I just think getting another starter is a way higher priority than catcher. We can’t go into a playoff series with only two reliable starters. Anthony Kay or Eric Fedde should not be starters in a 7 game series.

Remember Jerry Krause was called "The Sleuth" for his secret scouting. He would sit up in stands with a hat on and keep a low profile. Poor Jerry, eating a hotdog with mustard stains on his shirt would always give him away.
