Prosek is largely considered the better prospect. I think Law is the only one who has Thome ahead of him.

Thanks. I saw Law’s ranking and figured it was more split among the evaluators. Didn’t realize nobody else had Thome ahead.

I think Thome was happening no matter what. The whole world knew it. Guessing this fit his slot bonus better, and their intel was that Thome might not make it to 41 (Yankees at 35) while Prosek would. Prosek DID make it through.

Sammy Sosa to the Cubs for George Bell was the grand poppy of them all! I can still remember Hawk talking about how great it was to have a “professional hitter” like Bell in the lineup that year.

Well yeah, most trades are usually prospects/young players for veterans. Or veterans for prospects/young players depending on if you're buying or selling.

How many years do you think it will take for you to start saying Great trade for the Sox !

Just because Gonzalez was the most obvious piece have you not been paying attention to all the "experts" saying the Sox had the best draft ?

Do you want to be 1 and done or do you want to sustain this and dominate the division for years to come ?

You gotta give to get. Getz has been giving and getting in his last few trades. Yes there is downside risk, but it also opens up teams willing to deal with you as a FO. If you're always just jerking other clubs around it's not ideal to getting things done and certain GMs do get reps.

Look at the Mead trade. Boston is now a top 100 type prospect and Meade looks like a solid super utility guy. We had no room for him or Gonzo sadly, that's just how it goes, at least we didn't lose them for nothing.

Guy has a 137 wRC+. Pretty sure he's a lot more than a super utility guy.

One injury to our 1B, 2B, SS or 3B and Gonzo is needed again. It's not just about trading him, it's about getting bent over backwards in the trade. Trading him for a 34th pick is idiotic.
