I would hope that if they're dealing Carlson or Bonemer, they're getting somebody way better than Holmes or Detmers. I think stocking the system with 3 high-ceiling prep bats and a handful of college power bats allows them to loosen their grip on guys like Bergolla, Shelton or even Wolkow (Zavala, if anyone cares?).

You’re only trading top 5 prospects for elite names. Please. Nightengale said we won’t be stupid.

That's typically how draft picks work. You hope they're good in the future. Is Roch Chowalsky good? Maybe one day. Would you trade, I dunno, a 1 WAR player for Roch? He's an unknown commodity, you kno

I just don’t agree with this take. You think market value of a comp pick is a major league ready LH hitting infielder with plus plate discipline & power who brings a solid glove at multiple spots

  • Quick takes from this trade: Probably Roch tomorrow. Makes the draft even more fun tomorrow. I feel like we got 85 cents on the dollar. I understand why you would think to move Gonzalez, but feel

If the Sox can keep stocking and developing the minors they can move those players like the Dodgers do to sustain the line up.

Having to trade elite #1 starters like Sale and Crochet because the cupboard was bare was painful.

Hopefully we start seeing results on the international signings.

There is a big drop off there. The last three are effectively throw ins

What about this Boston Smith fella? Any real value there as a trade side piece?

No idea there.

No long term evidence of that yet.

Another homer, this time off Cole

I have no doubt Jacob will hit. Gonna be interesting to see what his long-term defensive home will be. I am definitely rooting for him.

You almost had to move him because where was he going to play? The real question is was the return worth it?

Should have traded the no one on base Singles merchant Chase Meidroth and let Gonzalez play 2B.

Yet we decided it was best to keep Acuna….

?

This wasn’t a one or the other scenario

Acuna is turning out to be a fine bench piece. His speed will come in handy down the stretch. (Albeit he's no Billy Hamilton)

Acuna’s lack of options and terrible start really doesn’t make him very desirable as a trade piece. It’s awesome he has come around for the Sox and they have begun to use him in a way that doesn’t expose him and gets the best out of him, it’s the best outcome for the Sox this season. I just don’t see him being moved at all

On a hung middle middle change that was lofted over the short right field porch in Yankee Stadium.

Good for him but I’m still not ready to:

  1. Regret the trade

  2. Assume we should have traded him for a starter

  3. Assume this prevents us from obtaining a starter

  4. Assume Gonzo is a better option than Meidroth

  5. Assume Gonzalez will have more trade value than Chase will when it’s time for Roch to come up

  6. Assume Gonzo will be a better mlb player than Prosek

IMO we just need to root for the kid and move on.

There's nobody else than can cover SS and CF as the backup. He's perfect in the 26th man role. He stunk as a starting CF. One of my comps when he was acquired was Leury. That looks about right.

Yeah I saw the replay. It was a homer that was only a homer in probably that ballpark only.

Hope the best for the kid but it’s not like we traded the next coming of Babe Ruth. This one won’t haunt us.
