Here’s the write up:“One of the better movers in the class, Casteel has a definitive starting pitcher operation. Complimenting the mechanics on the mound is exceptional pitchability and command around the zone. Casteel hasn't grown into overwhelming stuff, but does have a foundation teams will gladly build upon.To date, Casteel has reached back for 95 but is more commonly 90-93 with relatively generic shape. His fastball plays up a bit thanks to above average extension and his ability to pepper all four quadrants. The changeup and slider both flash solid average upside, the latter perhaps a bit more thanks to diving shape and feel for spin.Casteel isn't fully developed yet and doesn't have the stuff to overpower hitters, but he's relatively young for the class and moves well. A player development department might believe there's low-hanging fruit to get the engine running a bit hotter.”Definitely a fan of this profile. If I had to draft a high school arm, it looks like this. Getting people out with command and pitch ability and a good mix, but has the frame to add velo as a pro in a much safer and more controlled environment. Liked Contreras more but looks like he wasn't signing. If recent outcomes have proven anything it's that way more pitchers can go find top velo. Sitting 90-93 in high school is absolutely perfect.

The point is you can never be sure how top rated prospects are going to pan out, no matter how sure many message board experts are. See Moncada, who was the number one prospect in all of baseball at one point. Let's wait a few years and see how these highly rated prospects turn out. The post I responded to was talking about bringing Cholowsky up this year.

12 hours ago12 hr The Sox are finally putting as much stock in the character and personality of a player as their talent level. They have a type and the current roster and this draft class show it. Players that absolutely hate losing more than they love winning. Players that are athletic and bust it every second they are on the field. How many times this year so far have you questioned the effort of a Sox player? This is a team that is easy to root for and fun to watch. I give a ton of credit to Venable for creating an atmosphere that is allowing these young players to thrive. I personally think he is going to end up as one of the best Managers in the game.
