Venable is a putz for his choice of opener today and he’s a putz for bringing in Kaye. He’s a putz for not starting Fedde. He’s a putz for continuing to play the all time strike out king Colson Montgomery. He is a putz for playing Braden Montgomery every freaking day. If you want to call Getz a putz also that’s fine. They are both putz’s. In fact everyone connected to the Sox today are putz’s. There is a putz on every corner and every corner has a putz. How about those putz’s that emptied their wallets to buy inhumanly overpriced tickets to this putz fest? There are a lot of putz’s out there and they will continue to be putz’s on Saturday when the end comes. Kaputz to you and all you fellow kaputznics.

Will needs to play Sam regardless of splits. We need more contact hitters in the lineup. We can’t hit the Montgomery back to back. It’s a K daily double.

hopefully no more "blackout" games after this. How embarrassing for the franchise. Still 1906...

These two games we actually wipeout games not blackout.

Given the state of the staff Will has nothing to lose by starting Burke and saying screw it, let him go as far as humanly possible Saturday.

Start Burke

Hopefully he gives you solid 5

Bring in Newcomb to follow him and then piece mail it from there.

Hudson actually looked good today

Yes. No openers. Just let Burke go as long as he can and go from there.

Can’t play Braden on Saturday.

You say that but youve been watching Will manage all season so you know whats going to happen

problem is, Burke is really good with an opener lol

That should be the plan.

It would have been a DP. Martinez was at 3rd base

No way. He was at 3rd base after Braden went back to grab the ball. Zero shot at a double play.

"That said, the question of whether Getz can build a championship-level roster is now the one at hand. It’s a great problem to have, but it is now a pressing one.

And the perceptible gap between the Sox and the contenders they suddenly find themselves going toe-to-toe with, is pitching depth. Other teams have narrow playoff rotations, the South Siders have Sean Burke and a series of bullpen games, where ace reliever Grant Taylor is competing for the team lead in postseason innings pitched, and getting knocked around in Game 4 of a series where he’s already logged 5 ⅓ innings.

Building a playoff team out of undervalued journeyman pitchers only holds its charm for so long. The reward of a stunning season where the Sox performed beyond their wildest dreams is a mandate to improve upon it, and the best teams in the league laying your shortcomings bare on a national stage."

There is zero chance they don’t play him…he’s like one of Wills untouchables…

You. Should have done the same today either Fedde. Hopefully he learns and adjusts quickly. All of these young inexperienced guys need to learn and adjust quick.

s%*# like this happens in playoff series all the time. Have to win one more fucking game.

Hope that built some confidence at least for facing Williams and Smith on Saturday. Maybe they're more confident on the road where they can set the tone in the top of the inning.

Find a way to get 27 outs out of Burke, Newcomb, and maybe Schultz and/or Sandlin. Don't ask Taylor for a long outing. Ideally score enough that you're not even tempted to.

Throw strikes to the Guards' noodle bats and make them actually earn their rallies. Stop flailing at high fastballs and make their pitchers earn their outs.

I want to see a win on Saturday, and I think they can pull it off. But watching a self-inflicted loss would sting more than anything, so at least make them actually beat you.

And don’t let Porky Ramirez beat us.

Those noodle bats have scored 18 runs in two games and Adell and Ramirez are red hot.

Thank God for 2005, somehow

Team is on the ropes. Just play loose Saturday, they have nothing to lose now. Cleveland has all the momentum and they'll have a packed house.

They're not good at home. I wonder why some teams are better road teams like CLE and not great at home. Too many distractions? They press in front of a home crowd, team rallies around each other in hostile environments?

Anyways, I refuse to believe the Sox will roll up and die, I can definitely see them pull it off on Saturday.

Then get rolled over by TB 😆

Yep. Well said. Their rallies always start with a walk or HBP. They aren’t a good hitting team. Make them earn it.

Nah, free fall since you started a game thread with a Cubs song.

Mistakes happen, Fathom.

You know, the idea behind an opener is moot in the postseason. No starters are really expected to face a lineup 3 times through so the idea that you try to have the better part not see your guy a third time is kind of out the window when guys get pulled early anyway.

I dont know how you can explain so, so many horrendous miscues in this game aside from the young guys choked under the big lights. Im still appalled by that inning

Humanly possible you say? That would be a lovingly gruesome sight to see. Don’t take him out until he foams from the mouth type of thing? Taking him out of the game on a stretcher would be a grand way to end the season. What do you think the white sox pitching staff will be doing during the off season? I’d bet many will be hiding in caves.
