Right now his BABIP is at .263. Last year he was at .319 at A and A+. If his BABIP was the same as last year he would be at .310/.383/.407 line currently. I would say that is a decent line for a 2B that plays + D and runs above average.3 points

I‘ll just say this: The mental gymnastics some people are willing to do to knock Madrigal are pretty amazing.2 points

Crazy giolito could rebuild his entire delivery and become successful under the worst pitching coach in baseball2 points

The BABIP was shown to suggest he would regress back to the mean BABIP over the course of the year and what his #s would look like. Please continue being incessantly negative with everything. It really makes this a fun place.2 points

The Twins rebuild began in 2012. That is 7 years with no playoff victories.2 points
-
Again, the Twins had the #1 ranked farm system in baseball in 2014. 5 years later and they have zero playoff victories to show for it. Their rebuild has been a bust so far. What they do this year and next is still to be determined.2 points

No one ever doubted his bat to ball ability. More that he just doesn’t have the natural strength to be able to drive professional velocity. I know there have been quite a few scouts that have followed Madrigal that have stated he needs to make changes to his swing (leg kick) in order to handle velocity better. That hasn’t happened yet, so it will be interesting to see if they do make some changes to it. You see a day like today where he has a handful of weak pop ups to the right side, and that particular swing flaw is magnified. He’s always going to be reliant on BABIP, but if he’s making a lot of weak contact, it’s going to trend to be lower than expected.1 point

I used weighted plyo balls against a wall to shorten my sons arm circle up as an infielder. Its remarkably effective instead of trying to give verbal cues or doing random drills.1 point

The Sox payroll is around $92 million for this year. $13 million is 14% of the total payroll. When you have a low payroll to begin with, you can’t afford to burn 14% of your payroll on bums.1 point

The bullpen is starting to take on a different look as Bummer and Marshall join Herrera and Colome. Starting to feel like we can hold a lead if the starter gets past six innings. Lets keep it up. Only Minnesota has a team that looks tough. We don't have to give up when the Central is this thin of quality teams. The upcoming series with Minnesota will tell a lot about how far we go in 2019.1 point

Outstanding game for Giolito! 8K, 7 IP, 1ER and totally smooth sailing since the first inning jam. McCann called a hell of a game- bringing in breaking stuff early saved the day.1 point

Those were some darts on the edge. Such a pleasant change from last year where even if he did that, it was on accident.1 point

Play them young and get rid of them when they are 30. Guys who are 30 are ancient in the MLB now a days1 point

Nobody “discovered“ Moncada, he was a superstar in Cuba and commanded a $63 million signing bonus including the penalty.1 point

No, Moncada was signed by Ben Cherington. Keep impressing us with your baseball ignorance.1 point

James McCann Can , Ivan Nova Can ,Tilson 2-4 2 RBI a SB. Some times this team looks decent. SS2K5 come back . Winner's threads aren't the same without you.1 point

Funny how all these posts pretend they didn’t want Machado now. There is NO ONE coming in FA we will be able to sign anywhere close to his talent.1 point

8 homers and same WAR as Yoan because Manny is phenomenal on defense. Too bad we couldn’t be getting Yoan’s offense from a 2nd baseman.1 point

It’s supposed to be the prequel to Z-Nation. It was okay but it had a serious tone to it. I am liking Z-Nation much more due to the humor and Murphy is awesome.1 point

I'm sick of trade talk. Sick of tanking. The Sixers-Raptors game seven is huge for the tank people. No team has tanked more than Philly to rebuild. If they can't even win this round, one big lol at tanking. Tanking does not always work, folks. A good general manager in baseball can keep the team competitive without tanking. Get a very good manager (which we don't believe in doing), make smart draft picks even if they are, heaven forbid, as low as No. 15 in round one for your first pick, make smart acquisitions and you stay on top. I have no idea how the Sox are worth one billion dollars, but they are, and Jerry and the partners are laughing so hard all the way to the bank. Be objective. Since '05, the Sox front office has made so many bad trades, so many bad draft picks, so many dumb moves with managers ... and yet nobody has been fired in the front office. It is insane. And fans? We talk about trading one consistently good player, Abreu, over and over, year after year. We deserve what we get ... players like Yonder Alonso and John Jay and the great Adam LaRoche.1 point

Agree. I said it weeks ago, they are the biggest divisional threat to the Sox during the Sox’ anticipated contention window.1 point

No one competes the first 2-3 years after the start of a full rebuild. So throwing out 5 years as some type of long timeframe is ridiculous. Realistically, two years ago was the start of their contention window and they made the playoffs. They had a disappointing season last year but are right back to being in a great position to make the playoffs again this year. It’s very premature to call their rebuild a “bust” as we stand here today. Now if they are sitting here with no playoff wins come three years from now, then I would agree with you. They’re approaching the peak in their rebuild while the Indians are trending down so let’s see how this plays out first before declaring bust.1 point
