  1. Feed me all the crow. Sox probably saved a lot of money on this one, and thankfully, will have no competition for his services the next two seasons. Pay the man his money. He deserves every dollar. Mark 1 in the W column for JR.
  2. EE sucks but he could be useful in a pinch hitting situation maybe. I’d keep him. Zero use for Gio Gonzalez tho.
  3. Yeah, I mean, I proposed also adding Bauer/Stroman and acquiring Edwin Diaz with Nimmo in my post earlier. So I got that covered. But yeah --- who knows if JR will be willing to rock a $140-150M payroll. He should be, but I understand many will be skeptical of that. Problem with a Eloy/Robert/Nimmo OF is that you can't expect those dudes to play 150+ games. So a 4th OF that is capable of playing everyday when necessary and also one that can DH and help us push ELoy to DH a little more makes a ton of sense. But definitely a luxury.
  4. So long as we acquired another OF and Brantley can be more of a 4th OF/DH/injury replacement, it works alot better. I like the idea of Nimmo + Brantley. Brantley can probably be had for an Edwin Encarnacion type deal this offseason. 1/$12-13M with a vesting/club option for $13-14M. Nimmo is your everyday RF. Eloy gets more DH at bats with Brantley in LF occasionally. Brantley fills in whenever Nimmo and Eloy get hurt, which has been a decent amount in their careers. Brantley plays everyday until Vaughn arrives. Maybe he prefers to find a place he's guaranteed everyday at bats, or maybe he likes a situation like that on an up and coming team. Worth a look though, IMO.
  5. Priority #1: Sign Bauer. If you can't, sign Stroman. Priority #2: Acquire a RF. Trade Dylan Cease, Zack Collins, Bernando Flores and Luiz Gonzalez for Brandon Nimmo and Edwin Diaz. Priority #3: Sign another left handed hitting OF for Nimmo/Eloy/Vaughn insurance and bench piece. Michael Brantley would be nice. He can't play much defense anymore, but do you really need it with Engel/Leury on the bench Priority $4: Backend SP on cheaper deal. Quintana would be great. Wouldn't put him in this category, but I'd nontender Rodon and try to get him back on a super cheap 1 year deal as well. SS Anderson, 3B Moncada, DH/1B Abreu, Eloy LF/DH, Grandal C, Robert CF, Vaughn 1B/DH, Nimmo RF, Madrigal 2B BN: Brantley, Engel, Leury, FA Backup Catcher/Mercedes Rotation: Giolito, Bauer/Stroman, Keuchel, Dunning, Quintana with Kopech arriving in June. Maybe Crochet later in the year. Maybe Rodon as further insurance. Pen: Diaz, Bummer, Heuer, Marshall, Foster, Fry, Lopez with Cordero, Burdi, Ruiz, Johnson or perhaps Rodon battling it out for the last spot.
  6. I'd move him to 2 for the playoffs, especially against LHP. Anderson SS, Madrigal 2B, Abreu 1B, Eloy LF, Grandal DH, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, McCann C, Engel/Leury RF If Eloy can't play the field, put him at DH and Grandal at C. Leury in RF and Engel in LF.
  7. Im sure it Leury as well, but why not get him some at bats prior to the playoffs? If he’s not ready today, hows he gonna be ready in 2 days?
  8. Putting aside seeding: 1) Toronto 2) Oakland 3) Houston 4) Twins 5) Rays 6) Indians 7) Yankees
  9. @Y2Jimmy0 Mentioned on Twitter we may have a surprise RF in the playoffs.....Leury coming back??
  10. 3 seed vs Houston or (less likely) we somehow get the 4 seed against the Jays are by far the best scenarios.
  11. Didn’t mention it here because I’ve been tied up but still surprised to see Sox cut bait on Hamilton. Like his arm a lot and his injuries have been mostly od the freak variety. Think he’ll turn into a very solid mlb reliever.
  12. Welp, all we can hope for is a Sox win tonight and some help from Pittsburgh and Cinci.
  13. You know the seeding scenarios for the three central teams? Three way tie would end up: Indians (2), Sox (3), Twins (7), I believe. Indians hold tie breakers. Sox hold tie breakers over Twins. Perhaps most likely scenario: Sox win 2/3, Twins win 2/3, Indians sweep - I think that results in Sox with 7 seed.
  14. Rodon can absolutely be a weapon out of the pen IF he's healthy. Big IF, obviously. Really don't understand the people bellyaching about it. I feel a tad bad for Ross because he has pitched pretty well this year. But outside of his initial 9 innings or whatever, he's been back to Ross Detwiler. I am not losing any sleep over it, and would absolutely take my chances with a healthy Rodon over Ross in a playoff game.
  15. Rodon has above average stuff. If he's healthy, he'll be a very effective reliever. Being healthy is the kicker.
  16. The post above yours pretty much answers it. There is also the fact that Detwiler is a FA in 4 days and Fry is controlled through 2023. Fry is nothing special, but he's a solid middle reliever. You don't punt a guy like that to keep Detwiler around for 1 more appearance before he leaves for FA. Had Detwiler stayed, he's, at best, the 4th left handed option out of the pen behind Bummer, Crochet and Rodon, so like...yeah, he didn't really have a role on this team anymore.
  17. Really 4 with Rodon now. Don't need 6 lefties in the pen. Bummer, Crochet, Rodon, Fry, Gio G and Detwiler. Feel bad for Big Ross Boss, but it was the right move.
  18. Honestly, they looked like shit against the Twins too.
  19. A win tonight and Twins loss would be HUGE and make me a very happy camper. Could leave Cleveland with a 4.5 game lead over the Tribe and 2 games over the Twins. Its possible, but a lot to ask for sure.
  20. I mean the teams will have the same record. They tied. The Sox won the tiebreaker. I want to actually win the division outright. A tie is a tie, and I am happy we have the tiebreaker with the Twins as opposed to not having it, but actually winning it would definitely be sweeter in my mind. Hence why I think we need to go 4-1 as the Twins are likely to finish 3-1. Tall task at this point, IMO.
  21. Let's start saving him for a little later in the game.
