I'd say Morel is probably okay to play in case of emergency and they don't want to call someone up just to sit on the bench for a game or two. Obviously this PK business was unforeseen.

Adam Dunn's numbers for the month of May:

.266 BA/.415 OBP/.672 SLG/1.087 OPS

According to Baseball Reference Dot Com, they have a stat for GAME OUTCOME FOR TEAM.

What a split.

When the White Sox win: .323/.506/.813/1.321

When the White Sox lose: .182/.273/.390/.662

Wow. Here's something else. Adam Dunn when....

he's a first baseman (I know this is a small sample size, but STILL):

15 games played, .300/.478/.680/1.158

he's a DH:

25 games played, .225/.346/.551/.896

Maybe he and Paulie will flip flop.

Nah, Paulie is too established at first, but he definitely can give Paulie a rest two games a week maybe.

It's not like Dunn is hitting poorly as a DH. A .896 OPS is still very good.

So they'll be playing two short (Paulie, Morel) for the next two days. I don't like it.

Morel to DL, Hudson to active roster and likely to start Tuesday at 3B and hit 8th or 9th...probably 9th

On top of the usual sample size fun, there's some selection bias in that stat: if an opposing pitcher is bad, we're likely to win the game, AND it's likely to inflate Dunn's stats (and everyone else's). It doesn't mean we're dependent on Dunn, necessarily (though it could).

Does Hudson have the arm to play major league 3B or does he have a second-baseman's arm?

I said this in another thread, but hes logged over 200 games in the minors at 3rd, cant imagine hed play that many without one.

Vizquel had no arm left and he managed. Hudson will be okay. Will have to work on coming in on the bunt and throwing across the diamond from a new angle...but he's played 2B his whole career and had similar plays at 1B.

Just the distance and angle of the throws was different.

How come every year KW acquires a guy either he or Oz just had to have?

Manny, Juan (who I liked, but...), Oldmar, Teahen, the various grinders like Kotsay? We always acquire a guy who is destined to be a Sox before he retires.

Week ahead:

T: Walters vs Floyd

W: Diamond vs Sale

R: Pavano (maybe) vs Humber

F: Gomez vs Danks

S: Lowe vs Peavy

S: Jimenez vs Floyd

Probably Moore vs Sale next Monday. And Shields vs Humber Tuesday.

Further out, it looks like Felix Hernandez vs Danks on June 1.

I wouldn't be sad to see the Sox flip Peavy and Danks. The schedule sets up to skip somebody on June 4 (the off day), and then the final week before the break could have Peavy pitch Sunday before the break instead of Danks. I'd rather have Peavy get another start and miss the All Star Game.

Wow, those are some good looking matchups for the White Sox.

I really selfishly want to see Peavy bulldogging it at the All-Star game, honestly. I'm trying to jam 3 years of memories into this season, so I need an epic All-Star game from him. He's got to be in the running to start the game, right?

Any chance the Sox are looking to replace Kosuke Fukudome?

Maybe with someone like Jordan Danks.

Do you want to bring up Jordan and stick him on the bench in a reserve role and take away consistent ABs?

Two things that annoyed me today.

This "article" is about hudson taking time away from "Gordon Beckman". Very insightful.

Yes. He's never going to be more than that anyway.

He's going by Joe for a while to see if it helps get some wins. So far, so good.

Matt Thornton is the clean shaven, well-kept, slimmer guy that used to pitch for us.

Joe Thorton is this scruffy, long haired, beer gut dude that's been tossing for the pale hose.
