Teel has, for all intents and purposes, made himself into a back-up catcher because he can no longer be relied upon to catch for a full season or even a part of a season. If you tend to agree with that, then you can see why the White Sox should be looking for a catcher that can be the starting catcher moving forward. That level of catcher is going to require a top prospect - Carlson or dare I say, Bonemer. That is an unacceptable cost, especially considering the need for pitching and the reticence to trade top prospects. Yea, Teel really screwed himself and the team with his latest injury. That put Getz in an untenable position - make a costly trade or live with sub-par catchers the rest of the season.

we don't know that and he has been struggling. But imagine a platoon of Teel and Stephenson in September into October, much better

Teel will be back in 3 weeks. just muddle thru til then at catcher Go get Trevor rogers of the Orioles and call it good.

I said trade for those 2 at least a week ago. Was the 1st one to bring up Torrens even before the Torrens rumors came out. Pretty easy just scanning expected sellers catchers to spot a potential Getz guy like Torrens. Was there any discussion on the Eric Lauer speculation with the Dodgers ? He's about what I'm expecting but you never know. Could be our Fedde/ Kay type addition that won't cost a bunch. Dodgers are 9-0 when he starts.

I really hope Detroit decides to do a fire sale and remove themselves from the ALC race. Otherwise they are a dangerous team.

Looking at the schedule, pretty brutal August but there is a light at the end of the tunnel: we close with 10 against Detroit, KC and Rockies. 6 of those are at home. If we need to go like 7-3 in the final 10, the chance will be there.

I don’t know about his pitch selection as a catcher but at the plate, Smith is an incredibly smart hitter with a good plan up there. A 200 WRC+ doesn’t happen by accident.
