MLB Trade Rumors has said the Mets will be looking for a new GM this off season. Maybe the Mets will want to hire Hahn as their new GM.

I do think it is ironic you complain about #1 picks and returns on trades, but then in the very next sentence mention Chris Sale.

So I’m mostly a reader, not much of a poster. I’ve been reading the debates about Moncada and Rick Hahn. I check in on the game threads almost every game, and I read a lot about the prospects in the minors. But tonight I’d like to post a topic that I think should be discussed even though for many fans I think it’s probably a trivial matter. And that is the look of the team, especially as we enter into hopefully a new faze of being one of the better teams in baseball by 2020. My first puzzlement is why does a team named the White Sox wear black socks? While most players wear their pants down to their shoes and sock color doesn’t matter, a number do go with the more traditional old school look of pants at the knees with high socks, and ours are the wrong color. Check out the Red Sox, they wear red ones! I think we should go with white so our next contending team has a look that supports our name. I love the look of the home pinstripe whites, and the traditional road grades and find it frustrating that the team chooses to wear the black so called alternative jersey for so many games. Obviously I’m a traditionalist and I look at the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Dodgers and love the classic look they wear. I’d love to see the White Sox go down that path and have an aesthetic that respects the long tradition of the game of baseball. I’m probably in the minority. Most here are younger and probably love the black jerseys. But I grew up with the late 60’s team looking traditional and classy and then had to live through all of the uniform nightmares of the 70’s and 80’s that includes some pretty awful teams. So in conclusion it’s an off day, no game to watch and I thought I’d weigh in on my uniform obsession and see what other Sox Talkers think. Oh, I’d also love to see some changes to the park but I’ll save that for another day.

He was also the 4th best defensive shortstop in MLB that year according to UZR. Tim Anderson is 13th out of 22 qualified.

The perfect situation would be the Mets hire Hahn as their GM. I would then write JR another letter requesting to be interviewed for the job of White Sox GM. Being "The Worlds Biggest White Sox Fan" (WBWSF) I would give JR the most unforgettable interview he ever experienced. I'm sure after my interview he would really have no choice but to name me the new White Sox GM. Believe me White Sox baseball would be fun again if I was the GM. I WOULD MAKE THE WHITE SOX GREAT AGAIN!!!!

I hate that the diamond logo has been replaced on the gray road jersey sleeves by the standard logo. It was a lot better looking before the change.

I think the real problem is there is enough people in this country that health insurance and their work provides it. They've had no real problems and they really don't give a shit if some people don't have it and could possibly go bankrupt because of expensive care or if they don't have proper access and they die. It's the old, I got mine, fuck you. Luckily that general thought process in this country is changing. Mostly do to the fact that private insurance is so bad that it effects almost everyone negatively.

I also hate the '83 alts. Other than the team not wearing white socks, I feel the home/road and blk alts are all very solid. They could be improved with a few tweaks here and there: bring the diamond logo back, plus the black piping on the grey pants...

This isn't really true. If it was, he would have gone to rebuilding years and years ago. By all reports JR is the one who kept blocking the rebuild, not Rick and not Kenny. Because of guaranteed revenue from MLB, it is the teams with zero payroll that make the most money, so all of those years the Sox were in Go for It mode, they were giving away profits that would have grown under a minimal payroll instead of something north of $100 million. What you are arguing here is 100% factually wrong.

You missed the point. A poster said if we don't see progress by 2020 heads should roll. My point is that JR may not see it that way since financially the rebuild has been a success despite poor attendance. The question is JR more concerned about revenue or wins/losses. We will find out.

I don't think it matters if he's LH, Rodon's like the only decent pitcher on the team. If they trade him at 25 years old with 3 years of control, the league ought to step in.

If you read what I said, I actually think it supports my argument. KW arrived in 2000 and Paxson in 2003. KW's teams have played( and won) in one World Series. Paxson's teams have never made the NBA finals. Yet both have their jobs. It may be loyalty, or business success but their longevity is not based primarily on the field/court success. So one more time, with JR's track record, I do not assume that " if we don't see progress by 2020 heads should roll" .

Basically yeah. He was a positive defender in 2002 when he had a full season with the rockies, he was an elite defender in 2004 when the White Sox used him as a utility man, and he was an elite defender in 2005 when the White Sox made him a full time SS. He was an elite defender by age 24.

I don't like starting guys who get on base at less than a .300-.310 clip. This is just one man's opinion, but the amount of outs he makes saps a lot of his value in other areas away. Doesn't mean he can't be a super sub or something like that, playing SS/2B/OF. But in my book, he's best used as a super sub playing roughly 100-120 games.

Moncada at third sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. The Sox need to go hard after Machado and Arenado. Collins isn't going to stick behind the plate. His defense is terrible and not improving. Puff quotes from Nick Hostletter don't count.

The Bulls kept throwing Derrick centric lineups out there over and over, and then went to the 3 alpha experiment two years ago after they paid Jimmy the max. No, unless you are in JR's inner circle. Suppose JR is getting ready to sell off the team? Then a low payroll is a solid selling point. Hopefully it is a coincidence that the White Sox and Bulls have both gone into rebuild mode and both have their lowest salaries in years.

Moncada, Anderson, Lopez, and Giolito are really the only guys on the 25 man that are critical to the future of the organization. Don't necessarily need any of them to be stars.

I wouldn't touch the pinstripes. It's a great look and it has been with the team for almost three decades consecutively. I do wish they would take a break from the solid black look. I also could see the road grey getting an update even though we never seem to use them. The only thing, however, I feel very strongly about with the White Sox "look" is the logo. Don't change the logo. The old english "Sox" is the best the team has had.

I definitely think they are one of the most aesthetic teams, now and in the future. Moncada, Davidson, Delmonico, Yolmer, Gio, TA. All attractive. Then you've got Kopech waiting in the minors.

I think the idea of 4th being a spot that should go to a potential superstar is a bit of a stretch. Teams mess up the first pick all the time. The 4th? Holy moly. Or Fulmer to the Brewers for 3B Lucas Erceg. Or if the Rays for some reason wanted Fulmer, and we get 3B Christian Arroyo back. Basically as someone else said, look for a "change of scenery" type move where we can get a 3B prospect back who stalled in their development, similar to Fulmer.

Man, I just spent the last few weeks since AOC hearing about how "WE CAN WIN EVERYWHERE". I didn't realize by "win" you meant "lose". Thanks for a clarification of the goalposts. Thompson had already had a nationally spotlighted special election. No one was going to challenge him seriously, and I agree that Davids is a great progressive candidate. Weird that Bernie and AOC didn't endorse her, huh? Bernie doesn't have the magic with voters y'all think he does. Not in the heartland. That's why he's a terrible POTUS choice. He's not adored out here like you think he is. We don't have time to "move the right direction" and lose again this fall or in 2020.
