Let’s be honest, the closest feeling we’re going to have to winning a World Series in the next decade or so is if a new owner takes over this team and announces they’re staying in Chicago.5 points

I thought the package was basically fair, though it would have been nice to do better on the back end of the deal. But that being said, measuring this trade two weeks into the season based on MLB stats only is absurd. It will be years before we REALLY know what we got back.4 points

Da f*** is blue sky. Lame. Thanks for the response and link tho, appreciate it.4 points

Manfred gave us a waiver Put a picture of his ex wife over the plate maybe he'll find it.4 points

It’s Getz’s master plan to bring in bullpen guys who don’t throw hard. He’s reinventing the game.4 points

I've been here for over 20 years....I am fine with people venting, it gets old when it's the same 2-3 posters all the time with the same complaint.3 points

I mean, this is kind of a bad way to frame it. This is a layered topic, they could have gone a few different ways with Crochet. I was in the camp that they should have locked him up given his age, but that was never going to happen with Jerry. If I put myself in the shoes of Getz, knowing the team needed to reset and the limited assets in the org, Crochet didn’t serve much purpose on this team in 2025 and 2026. The package seemed fair but obviously it will take years to determine if they got quality out of it. But in a perfect world, given where this team is at, if they can get 2 quality starting caliber MLB players out of Crochet, it made some sense.3 points

The guy who was in charge of player development in an organization that developed no talent was promoted to GM. I am flabbergasted how anyone can defend him.3 points

It’s ironic that Clevinger is the only player Getz has acquired who’s ever been accused of being a hitter3 points

I know it was to be expected, but the offense is (obviously) horrendous again. Maybe it will just make it all the sweeter when guys like Meidroth and Teel arrive.3 points

I think leaning into their org strengths developing pitching to flip it for hitting would be reasonable. But would you expect them to hit on the right trades? Of course not.3 points

Because when I look at this roster I think, damn why don't we have enough 30 something's who won't be around when we have a chance of being good to block the guys who should be getting opportunities. Thank god He Getz Us.3 points

I'm hoping we see both Quero and Meidroth in a few weeks. Even if they take their lumps it will be a far better watch then whatever this is we are currently being subjected to.2 points

I would hate being a shortstop facing the Sox. You have to put in so much work compared to everyone else.2 points

Schriffen. Cmon. "Hopefully Meidroth will be with the big league team at some point this season." Buddy...he will be up in like 2 weeks at the latest.2 points

You could have just looked at his pathetic statcast data. There is nothing there with this guy. He has no tools. He's a bad athlete with bad tools.2 points

He's an all time bust bro. He was the best college hitter and can't even eke out a career as a backup 1B/DH/RF.2 points

For a guy that was picked that high that got to the majors so quickly and then basically put up a zero WAR for like 5 years? I can’t think of many others that got the shot he did and was so ineffective.2 points

f*** it. I'm calling it. Smith's throwing a perfect game. That dude on the radio is winning a free car. This post, inspired by Mark Buehrle. Who didn't give 2 shits if he said he was throwing a no hitter in the middle of the game.2 points

He’s an all time bust for a guy who was supposed to be so big league ready. He will be out of baseball before he’s 30.2 points

Pathetic GIDP but I'm blaming that inning on Vaughn. Put in the outfield you fucking loser.2 points

To not acquire another SS backup in case Colson failed is so insane. Getz has no clue what he’s doing.2 points
-
God please stop playing Jake Amaya. Play Brooks at SS. With the current roster, Amaya should be third on the depth chart at SS behind Brooks and Maton.2 points

This is really good advice and thanks for the help. So tell me Mr. caulfield12, do you have much experience posting on this site?2 points

No they don't. They see what is actually in the system, and how it translates into nothing even close to covering all of the major league holes we have.2 points

The headline says "White Sox front office still has faith in long-term plan", well at least somebody has faith, and apparently there is a plan!2 points

To be fair, ownership/management told the fan base that this was to prevent a rebuild, and that because we are in the AL Central, this would be easier. But sure. It's the fans. And if they were intentionally lying to us, this is the same group that is now telling us how great everyone they hired is, and that everything will be just fine, so you can see how we don't really believe them.2 points
