  1. You might want to re read the press release. JR has ceded no power and won’t per the release for at least 5 years.

  2. I'm with you. Hard to argue about a left handed hitting OF with a patient approach and some notable thump with solid tools across the board. I take this all day at 44.

  3. What is happening to this place? When did everyone go insane? what are we even doing here?

  4. No one does. The losing and mediocre development isn’t a coincidence

  5. I b**** about this every year, but why the heck do the Cardinals, with like the 5th largest fan base in the sport, get a competitive balance pick?!

  6. Who is the current owner of the White Sox? The answer is Jerry Reinsdorf. Justin Ishbia isn’t even on the front office page on the team website. You are a colossal waste of time. A true imbecile

  7. Not to hijack the thread, but does that skill matter if you lack the physical ability to drive the ball?

  8. We are all waiting for one specific thing to happen. Not much else to do.

  9. I don’t know how I would feel about McKnight as the full time PBP guy, but he clearly knows the game and his audience a lot better than Schriffen.

  10. ...but at the deadline we can back someone just as good, or better!

  11. Any chance Lee is getting called up (so that Teel and Quero can both play) and Sabol was acquired to catch in AAA?

  12. 1 world championship in 44 years is a helluva flex.

  13. Is this a serious post? Jerry is one of the worst owners in all of sports even if he lucked into Michael Jordan. Meanwhile, you refuse to give Ishbia a shot at being a successful owner before even gained control because he’s a private equity guy…

  14. Yeah they should have just not drafted someone.

  15. I'm happy that you like watching the worst sox teams in history back to back years but some of us dont actually enjoy that at all. Hope that helps.

  16. With Reinsdorf to fork over the $$$$

  17. It’s very strange how you cast more blame at the feet of the new Sox owner before he has even officially taken over than you have at Jerry who has failed for the majority of 40+ years.

  20. I remember Lawrence Holmes said for a Sox player to be successful is to leave the organization. The real work for the next owner is to remove the cancer this organization is. It wont happen overnight.

  21. That is horrifying. That's 20s baseball. 1920's, not 2020's.

  22. When you can trade a young prospect for a 33 year old reliever, you always make that move.

  23. I loved the part where he talked about a GMs job is finding role players and that everyone can identify stars. The Sox have 0 stars on this team. Their system is trending towards producing bulk regulars rather than stars. Finding stars, it’s pretty damn important.

  24. But that would take at bats away from Will Robertson, Josh Rojas, and eventually Ryan Noda. They are the straws that are also in the drink.

  26. Smith is struggling to throw strikes, Schultz isn't as good this year, Montgomery took a step back and somehow got promoted, Teel is struggling, Vargas' hot streak is over, Quero is likely never going to move the needle, and Meidroth is JAG (if I'm wrong here, so be it. I admittedly haven't paid much attention this year or last because I'm so burnt out with this franchise) Knowing the organization won't be spending a ton of money in the next few years, what is the path here? They once had Moncada, Cease, Kopech, Robert, Giolito, etc and they stunk Right now things are very bleak. How do they EVER become consistently competitive?

  29. I’m old and 1959 is also a cherished year and in some respects more cherished because they were my boyhood heroes and I idolized guys like Fox, Pierce and Aparicio. I was 59 in 2005 and and it was a great year and was so thankful I saw my team finally go all the way but It was just not the same as when you were a 13 year old, yes that 59 team is still my favorite Sox team of all time.

  31. Benetti's speaking voice is like having Nolan Ryan's fastball. Just have to have a half-decent head on your shoulders and you've got a broadcasting career in the bag. Schriffen's voice is 92mph with a little bit of run. McKnight is 89mph and dead straight.

  35. Got greedy. Civale gave you 5 solid. Get someone up in the 6th. Instead, they lose the game trying to get a couple extra outs. Venable needs to start competing. I understand they’re gonna lose 110 games, but eventually you have to pretend the games count.

  36. Needed to bring in a lefty, Civale was losing it on top of it he didn’t cover first on that potential DP.

  40. They have a choice: Start Colson at 3b and Vargas at 1b or Colson at ss and Sosa at 1b. They chose the former. Apparently, they have soured on Vargas at 3b because they were fine with Sosa at 1b yesterday. It’s weird.

  42. Same concerns about Mississippi were said regarding Konnor Griffin and he’s the #1 prospect in baseball now

  43. He’s the guy Stone and Schriffen couldn’t emphasize enough how the Sox were going to run on. Watch how the tune changes if he puts on a White Sox uniform.

  47. One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough is the Sox started the season with Shingo Takatsu as closer who got released and replaced by Dustin Hermanson. Hermanson had 34 saves but wore out/injured around mid Aug. Jenks came up from AA in July. Only had six regular season saves. Not sure many modern era teams went through three primary closers in a championship season.
