  1. Probably zero. Getz is good at his job. It wouldn't surprise me if the 2026 team won 82.

  3. It’s not spite. It’s history. The major league team’s record matters. It’s very possible that Getz doesn’t have a season over .500 or even sniffs the playoffs within the next 3 years before Ishbia can take over at the earliest. I don’t think that’s a crazy statement. Like I said, even if you think Getz is a good GM, his owner isn’t going to let him spend the money required to get his team to the next level.

Big stuff and MLB ready-ish.

  5. I'm not even sure Eddy believes what he says; maybe just trying to convince himself. What I can't figure out is before the year, in the predict how many games the Sox will win thread, Eddy picked the right answer (same as me!). But now he says "Getz exceeded expectations and was a B to B+." How did he exceed expectations if he won the exact amount of games you predicted from the start of the year. Make it make sense?!?!

  6. They can’t draft any higher than 10th in 2027 most likely, so they should at least try to put something together that is not embarrassing.

  8. How much of a troll do you have to be to roll into a thread celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the WS victory, and start babbling your "White Sox sux" BS? You literally have thousands of strings here to whine about how the White Sox aren't dominating baseball, and you choose a celebration of 2005 to complain? My 43-year-old brother died 6 years before this, and the World Series was a very emotional catharsis for my family. Everything isn't about you. I guess I'm making this about me. Sorry. Said in my own voice.

  12. And, you know, straight-up buying the most talented players available. I would say that’s probably more important.

  13. I can agree with most of this and that Jerry has spent in the past when the team was in competition. However, he is now on the precipice of selling the team. I don’t see him allowing Getz to spend any significant money within the next 3 seasons until he sells to Ishbia. So while I am no fan of Getz, I will admit he is pretty screwed over by Jerry when it comes to free agency.

  14. Sorry, I didn’t catch that. I don’t agree. They will be better. I still think .500 may be a stretch though. 70 wins sounds about right. And I agree with your second paragraph as well. But I just don’t see Jerry letting Getz spend enough money in any offseason to fill the team’s holes until he ultimately sells the team.

  15. That is good, but still not enough. And even if you think Getz is a good GM, can evaluate the free agent market properly, and sign the right players, he is neutered by an owner that simply won’t let him spend the money required to fill the holes on the team.

  16. For sure. If his walk rate wasn’t so high, he would be untouchable and likely already in the majors. But yeah, teams would be willing to take a chance on an arm like that.

  17. That's a lot of "if's" And you know JR isn't going to allow Getz to spend any real money to bring in some quality players. Sorry I can't see them winning more than 65 and that is "if" everything goes right for them, if not? A fourth straight season of 100 losses.

  19. They were calling it 20/30 grade control coming out of college. But he's cut down slightly. I think he could be an impact multi-inning reliever but I don't see Philly being too keen on keeping him on their 40man. The walks are scary and he'll basically be 27 when the season starts, but he has such crazy movement on his fastball and a good pitch mix that I'm sure some MLB team will take a shot and try to keep him in the zone, even if it's still, like, 4-5 BB/9.

  20. Thanks man, I have to admit too I am fair weather, I really want to see the positives. Other than a lull in the 2nd period and then the calamity brought on by the stripes I thought the Hawks were the clearly better team and looking at zone time metrics my synopsis on that is correct. Now after the game Connor, Bert, Murph and even Coach were pissed and despondent. But I am at home going, "hey I am actually happy (mostly)." But the guys were not happy, they didn't get it done, refs or not. This tells me the game last night, despites the positives I saw, was NOT good enough for the team. There is a higher standard being set here. Yea, us fans can gripe about the calls, but in the end the Hawks need/want to win and moral victories are not the goal here. I like it. Now, there WILL be plenty of losses ahead. I don't believe there is enough offensive fire power on this team. And while tending and defense is the backbone of your team, inept offense can put too much pressure on the blue line back. So we NEED to carry play and these last two games we have. So I LOVE the signs. I'd also be remiss if I wasn't ecstatic with the improvement on faceoffs. Very underrated skill and it appears the youngsters have been working on that. I don't think it's just a coincidence that better faceoff game is helping drive offensive possession. I am not delusional that this team is going to have any sort of playoff run, but AT LEAST I am enjoying watching this team, something i can't say about a Hawks team in a good number of years. I can name 6 players who are budding stars (this is NOT including young prospects like Moore, Frondell, Boisvert, Vanacker Lardis, West., etc, all prospects with varying levels of intrigue) and then another 6 or so that look to be quality depth, third and fourth line options on a playoff team. In short, I think this team is "far away" in that I don't project them to make the playoffs, but I also think they are close where I can squint a bit and see this team challenging for the playoffs next year. In this current stage of our rebuild I want TWO things and I'll watch every damn game I can: Make It Fun and Progress. Early returns are good.

  21. Shouldn't that also mean the White Sox have no reason to be NOT be competitive in the "poorest" (payrolls and media c rights deals/market size) MLB division overall? Cards and Cubs at $350 million combined. Detroit just ahead of StL. Brewers second best team in baseball at $115 million. Reds/Pirates equivalent to Twins/White Sox entering this offseason, with the Reds also a playoff team. Guardians also extremely competitive based on $$$/team win...similar to Milwaukee.

  22. Agreed. 2005 was the one thing this team and owner got right. I have every DVD about the 2005 team. They are actually pretty cheap now if anyone wants to buy them now.

  25. They're a baseball team. Compete. They get the extra draft choices, the extra international draft pool. Billionaires are billionaires. They have the entire tax code handed to them on a silver platter. We scream about how cheap Reinsdorf is, then the Brewers should be throwing the $600M contracts at everyone. They have all of Wisconsin as a fan base.

  30. There’s a lot to criticize the Getz regime on, but their performance in the Rule 5 draft seems to be a pretty thin reed. Drohan wasn’t a sexy pick, but a lefty with starter traits who had success at AAA isn’t a horrible gamble for essentially nothing. Real problem there was health. Obviously they did much better this year. Also, why are people dogging on some JC pitching coach for getting his dream job? Seems kinda extreme, but I suppose there’s not a lot of news until after the WS.

  32. Why would Prior leave the Dodgers? Bored I'm because they're too talented and he's paid too well? Also LA pretty much leads the league in pitching injuries. Imagine if S.Smith and Martin got hurt this past year. There's not a list of 8-10 possible replacements in Chicago.

  35. Some people thought that Hahn And Getz had the qualifications to be the GM. How has that turned out? I never viewed MLB as rocket science. I think some fan like myself would do a decent job as the GM. If I was the GM and turned out as bad as Hahn and Getz have been I would resign.
