So weird to see them like this. They were always like the Yankees of the Midwest without the money. The team to beat. Now it seems like they could be mired in mediocrity3 points

Hes not even going to play 3B for the Sox. What are you talking about? Plus, his free agency still lines up with Freeman’s if they really wanted a spot for him.2 points

Yea, Acuna's offensive numbers are not that impressive, but let's give him a chance this Spring. He is still a young kid.1 point

My mother once mispronounced a word over and over when I was seven. I've had trust issues ever since. I suppose that's why I've been in and out of jail my whole life.1 point

I would think that if this team is playing anything close to .500 ball by the end of July, they keep all the 2-year guys so they're not trying to build half a team again in a month during March of 2027.1 point

I suppose not but does getting all the facts right in all the other guys he has talked about instill real organizational change for you or, building a new training complex in the DR , or all the quality people he's hired and updating R &D or the big turn arounds in Colson Montgomery's and Crochet's performance , or the return in the Crochet trade, or picking out 2 successful Rule 5 candidates last year ? How about many of the rookies performing well or the better hitting of Sosa and Vargas from the previous year ? Many of these things accomplished with a rock bottom payroll. Houser was picked up mid season and did well. Other veterans weren't total duds despite the bargain bin salaries. Also seemed very opportunistic to grab Murakami and get back into the Japanese market, yes ? Some scouting and development wins for sure.1 point

Feels like Thorpe will be moving to the 60 day DL at some point. He’s going to be at least three weeks behind Bush’s rehab and Ky just got moved to the 60 DL.1 point

Super excited to follow this team this year. Lots of fun names to follow. That outfield though 🤮1 point

All those athletic looking young players then they give us Bennie looking like my 42 year old ass turning the treadmill up to 13mph for a quarter mile sprint.1 point

I was randomly listened to a Cards podcast last night. They are in a bad way. They might have a worse roster than the Sox and they don't have much on the farm either.1 point

I was going to say, he has a beautiful looking swing, now it's all about improving his contact rate. Also he looks very athletic with his fielding at first.1 point

I think he's too similar to Kelenic. They could move Thorpe or Berrora to the 60-Day to clear a 40-man spot, but I don't think they will.1 point

No, not having an international pipeline, then taking first basemen, 2nd basemen, catchers with known flaws and relief pitchers with the first round pick for years is what got us Jacob Gonzalez.1 point

Suwinski had an Eloy-like career trajectory. Hard to get anywhere when promising players do that.1 point

Thanks to all who responded. I set up a VPN and now sit back and wait for MLB.TV to broadcast 2026.1 point

I cannot believe the shamelessness of some people in this thread that are telling on themselves. Bidets are literally life changing and save you money on TP. Imagining you nasty motherfuckers with skid marks in 2026 is fucking wild. No amount of wiping will clean you fully. I atleast hope you use wet wipes... that is the bare minimum... /rant1 point

He does seem like a fun guy ☺️ Some notes from (various translations of) his media session: He's getting along well and having fun with teammates and staff despite being nervous at first. He says everyone has been really nice. Answered "every day" when asked what has been the most fun so far Says the added attention doesn't bother him since he experienced it in Japan too. He wants to keep improving his English, and has to improvise with gestures at times. Has taught teammates some Japanese phrases. He talks with Imanaga, Suzuki, Yoshida, and Ohtani regularly. Ohtani has been encouraging. They haven't decided yet exactly how many ST games/innings he'll play before leaving for the WBC. Looking forward to facing Skenes and Skubal in the WBC since they are reigning Cy winners. Still working on getting more comfortable at 1B, is committed to improving as a defender. The swing change has been in progress since November, and is aimed at adjusting to higher velo in MLB. His goal is to be a big home run hitter here as well. Yes, he got asked about bidets (from both US and Japanese media) and he wasn't shy at all in answering. Has told teammates about the many benefits, including being better for the environment by using less TP Likes to go before a game, and likes to feel clean when he plays At one point he was talking so positively about bidets that a press member joked it sounded like promotion. Mune suggested a bidet sponsorship and when he got laughter in response clarified that he'd be seriously open to it.1 point

If by move, you mean out of Chicago, it isn't happening. I don't know why people think it's going to happen. It's not.1 point
