For the first time in a few years I'm optimistic with this WS team in 2026. Hopefully they will be competitive throughout much of the season. Time will tell but at least there is some hope.9 points

Nope, kid is fucking cooked. If you ain’t fixed before your first full minor league season as a prep pick then it’s officially game over man.5 points

He's going to be in the minors for like 4 years. They have time to fix the swing.4 points

I have many fond memories of taking my kids to Sox games when they were little. I'd sometimes take them to the Fundamentals kids area and watch the game from the balcony up there. Enjoy, they'll be grown up before you know it.4 points

You say this now, but when the ground opens and swallows them whole … … … hahahahahah4 points

They should be more watchable, that's for sure. I still think they lose around 90 games, but there's definitely more players worth watching than in the last several years. Off the field, the MLB draft will be exciting, not just for the 1-1 pick, but how the Sox fare in the rest of the draft.4 points

They’ll save plenty of money on Roch to overslot the next few rounds3 points

This is awesome. I love the attitude. I have no idea if it will work but it should be a fun ride.3 points

Fegan's interview with Mune is really worth a read. Here's an especially fun bit: https://soxmachine.com/2026/02/munetaka-murakami-wants-everyone-to-see-my-game Vengeance tour starts Friday:3 points

This sure is a safe space where mindless drones who think alike continue to talk about the same stuff and stick to the mantra. The difference of opinion is half the fin about sports talk.3 points

I really don’t know what to expect this year, I think the nucleus of Monty, Teal, Meidroth, Vargas and Quero will only get better but the pitching is a question mark, I hope Murakami is in for a big year but again I don’t know what to expect. We still don’t know where Sosa is going to play. I don’t think they will lose 100 games again, if things really go well I can see 75 wins but if things turn sour it’s more like 65 wins.2 points

Im sure you know that projections for young players are generally very conservative. I'm not asking anyone to be more positive than usual ( or maybe I am) but if I have a choice to think there will be more growth with the youngsters that are in the lineup and the ones likely to make an appearances mostly from July through September then I can see a better than expected outcome. If it doesn't happen then we're another year closer to a change of ownership so its all good.2 points

They COULD, but if Jerry is in charge, they won't. Hell they just had to go beg to get $40 million to sign this contract which was a fraction of what was expected. If the bidding adds a zero, do you expect the Sox to be involved? I sure don't.2 points

Look, when Jeff Dunham does his show, he might keep changing puppets and personalities, but at the end of the day, it is still the same puppeteer running the characters. Until Jerry is out of the picture, I am going to assume the White Sox will operate the same way they have for the last 45 years.2 points

So misappropriation of funds and philandering... alledgedly of course. It's always abuse of power that brings about downfalls but often not before atrocities.2 points

Getting off to god start is essential. Getting in a deep hole early could be devastating.2 points

I wonder at what point it gets to the "put up or shut up" point for Jerry, Ishbia, and the White Sox if they indeed want to build a new stadium at the 78. We haven't heard a word about their intentions other than Ishbia's offer to the Pope to throw out the first pitch at a new ballpark. Once the Fire stadium gets underway, the south end of that property isn't going to sit undeveloped forever. Plus, with each passing year, construction costs continue to skyrocket. There's also the matter of the Sox lease at Rate Field expiring in 3 years and I highly doubt Ishbia wants to stay there long-term as he eventually assumes ownership of the team.2 points
-
And yet, as I said, here starts an expensive project doing just that, with the end goal of a stadium going up on this site, almost as if that it can be done on the 78 site.2 points

I think they'll be a much more interesting team to watch than years past, but being competitive would require a lot of things to go right and few things to go wrong. Depending on our definition of competitive, I guess. They'll win more games and be "in" more games but probably won't approach .500 down the stretch. I do think 70 wins is a realistic target. All that being said, I'm already planning on hitting a few games this year. We only went to one last year and none the year before. I'm definitely optimistic of an entertaining season of baseball.2 points

Because if he is good, he is leaving in two years anyway, so you get what you can get for him.2 points

MLB players can't play in the early exhibitions, which is part of Mune's reason for staying in camp a few extra days. He isn't expected to play until the games in Osaka on March 2/3.1 point

The Science Channel should be on standby to make an Engineering Catastrophes episode for when work starts on this tract of land.1 point

Understandable how you feel but JR has never put the cart ahead of the horse. He needs the money to spend the money. Simple old fashioned economics and that was when he wasnt all that concerned about his sons inheriting debt. It's a much different time in his life now.1 point

Hard to tell 🙃 For all I know for all the times artists who get sued for ripping off songs ,you might have been hinting there was some doubt about it that I was unaware .1 point

FWIW, I believe it was back in Octoberish that the Sox (Brooks maybe?) mentioned they should have the stadium plans figured out in the next 12-18 months. Of course I can't find that bit of news anywhere at the moment.1 point

Im excited for baseball to start. Will be fun following a few guys, but the optimism certainly not there for me. Im jealous and envious of all of your approaches and mindsets here. Between 1977-2016 the White Sox lost 95+ games once. They're projected to lose that this year. Here's to hoping for a good outcome and some exciting progress so next year, we're truly staring down some semblance of competitiveness. Ill add i dont think they'll be embarrassingly bad, and unlike the past two years i do plan on attending some games and taking the little dudes to their first games.1 point
-
On paper they should be better but lots of issues could derail the season again. 4th place finish is probably the best you can hope for in the division and to not lose 100 games.1 point
-
They certainly could. But why do you think they would operate any differently until Jerry is out of the picture? I would prepare to not get too attached to Murakami.1 point

I suppose the narrative now will be that the north end of the site can support a structure like a stadium, but not the south end?1 point

No doubt, as big as the Bears are, the Bills mean a whole lot more to the Buffalo region.1 point

Flora was very intriguing yesterday. Flukey didn't look great from what I saw. Also I hate that we have a thread dedicated to Roch. The superstitious side of me makes me feel like it's super bad juju.1 point
