  1. Vargas needs to have a big year if he wants to hold that spot long-term. I fully expect another leap, but not sure if it will be enough to hold off the eventual impact of Roch.

  2. The other Rule 5 guy Alberto in. 1st batter smoked a single. 2nd batter hits into a nicely turned 2nd to SS to 1st DP. Kieboom weak fly out to RF. Rule 5 guys did good !

  4. If Murakami performs, I hope the Sox plan to resign him. IMO, we should be in “win now” mode by next season unless a lot of things go wrong. And given that we have zero long term payroll commitments, resigning a 1B shouldn’t be a problem for us (hopefully). I think the more likely outcome is Vargas is eventually traded. But even talking about this hypothetical is a good problem to have.

  6. Hope he has a big year and someone overtakes him; then we can trade him for pitching prospects. Keep the pipeline flowing for a change. I know they don't want to mess with what so far has been a good thing (real good thing), but I think Colson would be a good CF

  9. Sox winner! Shane Murphy gets the save. Not to be confused with Chris Murphy.

  11. Tom Hamilton, the long time Guardians announcer had some verynice things to say about the recently deceased White Sox coach Joe Nossek. When Hamilton was much younger and the Sox single A team was in Appleton, WI., Hamilton was their announcer.

  14. Meidroth double clutch , stills get Force out at 2nd but no chance for DP. Double scores Kwan. Might not have got Kwan even if Meidroth didnt double clutch.

  18. Delusional cult-member. Dear leader Chris Getz made me turn my back on my family and start to like White Sox home runs.

  20. This is probably the deepest dive I've read on how Chris Getz has revamped the organization with an analysis of the various foci. What is Chris Getz's vision for the White Sox? - Sox Machine

  21. Takeaways. 1. People who Getz hired and gave expanded roles and opportunities too, like him and believe in him. Very surprising! 2. The Sox still haven't expanded their department head counts. 3. Autonomy and freedom are what Getz is selling new leaders. (I'm a fan of this) resources aren't comparable to other markets. 4. Getz would compare the Sox to the Rays or Guardians. Lots of roster churn. Pretty s%*# fan experience but again, still very limited department size. 5. The proofs of concept or wins cited were someone else's 1st round pick being good, a pitcher being claimed and converted into something viable (something Sox have done a few times over last decade+), and two guys who have never played in the MLB. Anecdotal was polite.

  22. I’d definitely put my money on that outcome vs. the alternative…I just hope it’s because Roch, Colson, & Murakami have forced the issue.

  24. Jerry can "choose to sell" to Ishbia starting in 2029. I believe the first time Ishbia is able to buy the team would be 2034.

  25. I would expect him to build upon that .769 OPS he put up from 4/23 onward. Maybe he's the fallback 1B if/when Murakami walks after 2027.

  26. DVS pre-game notes White Sox' Miguel Vargas ready to roll now that he's entrenched at third - Chicago Sun-Times - Vargas happy at 3B - OF sick bay - Fedde echoes Sox' pitching philosophy - mini SS recaps

  27. Fegan's notes: White Sox notes: Jordan Hicks is settling in, while Sam Antonacci will never settle - Sox Machine - Hicks on board as reliever, trusts stuff - Antonacci plays annoyingly hard - Pereira not ready to swing - Newcomb loves Teel's assertiveness - Paez is scheduled to pitch an inning, likely the 5th (from the comments)

  28. The Padres play in a top-tier ballpark and have averaged fewer than 26k per game only once since Petco opened in 2004. They've drawn over 3M three years in a row and just missed 3M in 2022. They're also the only team in San Diego among the 4 major sports leagues. I can see why they're valued greater than the White Sox even though the Sox are in the 3rd largest market.

  30. I thought the initial renderings that came out had the stadium on the north end of the lot. Regardless, I'd rather be the 1st stadium there rather than working around whatever the Fire ends up doing.

  31. There is no doubting the Sox should have taken a positional player in hindsight and I’d argue they should have probably done so at the time of the draft. The Sox taking Konner Griffin wasn’t a slam dunk decision at the time though. No doubt he had his fans and some posters here were championing for him, but Smith over him specifically wasn’t necessarily a crazy proposition draft night. Regardless, I think it’s fair to say Smith can turn out to be a really good pitcher while also acknowledging Getz sort of bungled the pick by over-ruling his Scouting Director.

  32. Possibly fix something that was broken long ago......... That will take a patient fan base but they need to remember they are Chicago and not the Marlins. It's sad our discussions are the same as those who are fans from the likes of those from habitual losing small market teams. FA is more of a depression. We our giddy over a FA who hasn't played MLB and then our thoughts are about trading them. This is common among fans in both Central divisions.

  33. Funny how he says this for an article but has the absolute thinnest skin when on Twitter and craps on any White Sox fan that disagrees with him or challenges him.
