  1. Would someone please send Acuna down so that our elite SS can stop playing third base. This is getting ridiculous.
  2. 102 wRC+ for Benetendi now. Who could have seen this coming? A league average hitter you say!
  3. I know better than what? The industry also says he doesnt have plus power or speed. I am going off of what they are saying given that Im not traveling to scout high school baseball players. I asked one question. How could Emerson jump Roch or Lackey following a high school season against nothing competition. You took that as some attack on Emerson.
  4. Not sure what this is supposed to mean, but Emerson still doesn't have top line speed or power projections... Maybe Mya does though. Guys the Andrew Benetendi of Shortstops.
  5. Nothing you said disputes what I said. Emerson spent the season playing in a small conference against a bunch of kids who won't even play D3 baseball. He chose to transfer into that school, and I understand why, but I have no idea how anyone could discern anything from this past season... meaning the only way you could view Emerson as #1 is if you viewed him that way entering the season. Why is the hit tool the most important tool? I don't agree with that at well. I'm also incredibly skeptical of placing a 70 hit tool on a high school kid. Emerson lacks top line speed or power projections. I'd rather have Roch than Emerson, because at least Roch has flashed power. I'd clearly rather have Lackey who has louder tools, louder projections, and BETTER production.
  6. Someone will have to explain to me what could have possibly changed about Emerson this year. Summer/Fall ball last year was the last time he would have played some actual competition. Since then, he's been playing a bunch of kids who won't play another inning of baseball in their life. Unless you thought Emerson was the best prospect coming into this season, I have no idea how anyone could have him jumping Lackey or even Roch. With the way Lackey has performed, it would be madness to put Emerson ahead of him. Lackey had the best production. He has the best tools. Emerson isn't even that toolsy for a potential 1-1 high school pick. #NOTMYPICK
  7. Antonacci judt complained to the ump and Then the ump calls Cole on it. Sam such a great agitator.
  8. Like the bat signal! Knew you'd come running!!
  9. It would be crazy to trade Bonemer for Sloan in my opinion. They're basically similarly ranked prospects but pitchers have much wider error bars. The hitting prospect has a more reliable outcome, and Bonemer is the man.
  10. If I was a GM, I would never draft a high school pitcher who is throwing 100 mph. Guys who grow into velo are so much more stable and reliable.
  11. The Sox should be worried about sustaining success not friendships. The Sox are going to run into a situation of which they need to trade position players for arms since they have very little pitching. They need to pick the right guys to trade. Meidroth has, by far, the safest profile to trade IMO. It's also a profile that won't sustain imo.
  12. Barrels are a pretty noisy stat (in fact, they're so noisy that he's actually squared up fewer balls this year by a good bit than last year, but has more barrels), and I wouldn't worry much about launch angle for a guy with a 67 MPH bat speed.. plus a 7.2 vs 6.7 (last year) LA is hardly a measurable change. For slow bat speeds (bottom 10%), the ideal launch angle sits between 12-15 degrees. If you look at successful profiles in that player type (Steven Kwan and Luis Arraez types) you'll see a different profile all together. I know he's your guy, and I would defend my guy the same way so completely get it. I just find it nearly impossible to project out a better performance for the guy than he's shown this year. He seems maxed out.
  13. 100% they should move him if some other team will give up something for him. He's basically the same player from last year under the hood, but he's had more production this year.
  14. Color me still skeptical, and I was certainly one of the original doubters. He's running a .350 BABIP, and I think his profile was actually more reliable last year when he was making more contact. His bat speed is still abysmal so it's not like he's traded some contact for power by swinging harder. This is a really ugly offensive profile: ImgBBChase hosted at ImgBBImage Chase hosted on ImgBBWhich has worked so far, but I'm not sure I see a lot of sustained success. He's a nice defensive player, and those wall scraping homers have helped him a bit this year. I'm still firmly in the camp of the Sox should be playing Antonacci at 2nd in the long run and if they can get something for Meidroth, they should. He still projects as a utility guy for me in the long run.
  15. I have firmly planted my feet in the ground on Lackey being the best player in this class. Passing on him would be a mistake; even moreso when there's chatter about him being cheaper.
  16. Jose Ramirez had a career MiLB OPS of 766 including a 674 OPS at AA. Glad I could help answer your question Caufield.
  17. If Sox hold on to win this game, we all may need to stop and consider that CWS going to the game yesterday directly caused the loss.
  18. Lol Bauer had a 4.5 ERA in japan last year. Nothing about him says he would shove in the MLB. He would get destroyed. I've also never heard of a player as disliked as Bauer in the baseball world. He wasn't welcomed back because so many players couldn't stand having him around. Francona protected and defended him for years and Bauer even lost Terry by the end.
  19. Im not sure if it's good or bad that Colson is in there. He has been clearly feeling some discomfort when swinging and running. He looked uncomfortable yesterday.
  20. Lol hadn't even seen that story yet. Baseball players slant heavily conservative so probably not that disruptive, but agree that a headache is a headache.
  21. Yes, Roupp is better than 3/5 of the rotation. I'm a Detmers guy but he has a career worth of not getting results as expected.
  22. I would see if the Giants were interested in moving Landen Roupp. Because of the lack of top fastball velo, he won't demand as much as other arms of his caliber. Plus the Giants need bats, and his GB rate would fit nicely in our ballpark in the summer. You also get prime years of control and without any real cost. Another guy similar in control and probably less cost is J.T Ginn. I wouldnt mind adding that either!
