First of all, this thread should be in the Trade Winds section. Secondly, and this isn't a knock on Sheets and Burger as one or both might very well end up being good enough to contribute during the playoffs, but it would be irresponsible for the Sox to count on anyone who had never been on a major league roster as of June 28 to do so. Leury Garcia has a .921 OPS over the last 30 days. If for some reason no trade can be made for Escobar or Frazier or anybody else, I'm trusting Leury to be the starting 2B before I'm putting Burger at 3rd and Moncada at 2nd or vice versa.

Eloy and Robert are coming back, and they along with Engel, Hamilton, Vaughn and Sheets will have outfield covered just fine. Focus the trades on 2B and C.

I feel like the significance of Engel's absence has been overshadowed by Eloy and Robert. Engel gives you A+ defense at all three OF spots, A+ baserunning, and as of recently, quality hitting with power. Assuming he can stay healthy, he's the reason why I'm looking at 2B and C for trade upgrades before I'm looking in the outfield.

Just saw the strangest thing on MLB Network. TOR has 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Fly ball to left field that the BAL LF dives for, hits his glove, but clearly doesn't catch. Umpire mistakenly calls him out. Runners were going, and the runner from second had rounded third, and when he sees the out called, realizes he can't get back to 2nd in time and just stops and gets tagged out. Runner from 1st had gotten to 2nd but then retouched and went back to 1st. Replay correctly rules that the ball was not caught. They also rule that if the umpire had made the correct call, the runner from 2nd would have scored and the runner from 1st gotten to 2nd, so that's where they are placed.

I've reserved judgment on this case because I wanted more facts and details, but if those texts are genuine then I don't think MLB can bring the hammer down on Bauer. The woman may not have wanted him to go as far as he did but she also seems not to be entirely truthful about what went on.

He's not going to get $20M+ now. If he wants that he'll have to wait until the end of the season. If he wants security now it would come at a discount.

Nobody's going to claim him but someone might trade for him and be willing to pay a small portion of his remaining salary. Not likely, but not impossible.

The power is coming back when Grandal, Eloy and Robert return. Frazier can play 2B this year and RF next year. If this is really what the deal would be I'd pull the trigger.

Get all the lefties you can at other positions but CF defense is too important. Can't afford Goodwin there.

The Sox need to give up on shoving as many lefty bats as possible into the lineup vs RHP and start Engel or Hamilton in CF every day.

Yeah, that $3000 they would have to pay Zavala for being on the roster today can be saved to make a big acquisition at the trade deadline.
