  1. I need to read about this. Why all the smoke in the Big Apple? All I know is Canada has fires. Hope the peeps in NYC are OK. No fricking way they should play these games. Seriously both should be played at Field of Dreams in Iowa. Why not???
  2. Moncada's bat has been abysmal. Those of us who care about batting average stat laugh at the fact he's had only 1 year with a BA over .263. horrid. His RBI totals for those of us who follow RBI are not gawd awful, but pedestrian for sure. He's hit 34 homers over the past four seasons. Basically he is stealing money as a hitter. However he's a dandy fielder. I'd try my hardest to get rid of him. Sox should try to get 2-3 warm pitching bodies for him if anybody's willing to pay him.
  3. The title of the thread says it all. Those two guys. Also amazingly the Sox gawd-awful April no longer costs them the season. At 4.5 games out that start now means nothing. If they can avoid another losing streak of 4 games or more and can beat Central teams as they've sort of been doing under Pedro, they can win the division. Then in the playoffs anything can happen in this new era. No danger of getting shut out. You always are gonna have a chance going against 4-6 pitchers a game. Hilarious that this team still has a good chance at success.
  4. Another thing: It definitely has to help team morale to have our stellar closer back. Nobody can deny he's an elite baseball pitcher, an all star. Liam's presence definitely can help this team. At 5.5 games out of first, this team actually could contend in this division if it actually got hot and everybody started to have their proverbial career year from this point on. I'm not saying the team is any good but 5.5 games out means the team actually 'could' contend. Hope the guys actually want to build on this sweep and keep competing. This horsebleep team still could finish last but it also could contend. Stay healthy liam; get your head out Timmy; figure something out, Elvis, give us 5 innings every night, 2 or 3 of u starters. Stay healthy eloy and robert and start elevating eloy. Peace out.
  5. Sox are only 5.5 games out of first. Hilarious. Burger is for real. Seriously. He can hit. One can tell. Go ahead and trade Moncada if he won't go to second base. Burger can play an acceptable third while putting up a lot of HRs the next 7 years. 7 inning start? Glory be. His pitch count was low. Shoulda let him pitch 8 gosh forbid in 2023. Seriously folks. Burger is hitterish. He's not a fluke. His D at third is so much worse than Moncada, yes. But either trade Moncada or make Burger permanent 1B and get rid of Sheets or Vaughn. I like Vaughn but I'm pretty convinced the eye test isn't lying on Burger. Got to make room for Burger. Why are the Sox afraid of moving Moncada to 2B? He'd be great there.
  6. We'll take it. 3-0 wins are nice wins. For some reason I still don't like the team but I can't fault this victory.

As much as I despise modern baseball, the Sox need to embrace the fact they'll never have a collection of pitchers who can effectively go more than 4 innings. So start the system in which you have a large pool of pitchers taking turns going 3 innings max at a time. Folks, what does 'build a future rotation" mean nowadays when guys can only go 5 max. You're gonna have to give in to 3-inning mound work day in and out. Seriously ... is anybody confident the White Sox can build a "future rotation?" i say no way. Arms are too brittle and pitchers too lousy.
  8. The organization is rock bottom right now. So yes Hahn should be fired as well as Ken Williams. Problem is there's nobody who believes Jerry would hire the right GM to turn this around. Dombrowski is 66 and from Chicago. I doubt he'd do it but he's the only man for the franchise turnaround right now that Jerry would hire (since he knows him).
  9. Is the park gorgeous at least? As a fan of being in a ballpark, sights and smells and eats and drinks, would I be in nirvana today? Have any fans left yet?
  10. yeah it's hard to come up with comparisons. mine would be Baltimore Orioles from 2001 to 2011 maybe. That's kind of the current White Sox. A team that sorely lacks mlb caliber players on offense defense or pitching and has no chance out of the gate thru September.
  11. I hear you. I don't want 'em to lose either on a daily basis. I want all W's every day. i was just pointing out we got one title at least in our lifetimes. About all we could expect with Jerry and his crew.
  12. The older peeps on the board at least got one WS title out of the Jerry years. There's no chance of anything getting better now with him in charge unfortunately. Only the diehards remain as fans who follow the team on a daily basis.
  13. Smart of him to not turn down at bats in the Cell against the Sox rotten pitchers.
  14. How many fans really are in the park? Under 10,000?
  15. Ohtani vs. Lynn is like Fred Lynn vs a Little Leaguer back in the day. Batting practice, baby.
  16. Nice win. Don't understand why advanced stat people don't like the RBI stat. Good job Vaughn and Romy. We'll take the W.
  17. Good post as usual, Dick. I'd like to point out the Sox are equal opportunity losers. They've lost to good teams, sure (Rays, Stros) but also gotten boatraced by the Royals (in KC) and Tigers and some other rotten teams. Sox appear to have another horrific road team and a .500ish squad for home games.
  18. Eloy with the bomb. Liam. Otherwise another disgusting loss. Sox stink and dat is dat.
  19. Didn't sale have at least 2 stellar seasons before the arm woe? Sox pitching staff since the tank has been atrocious. At least in the past we always had one stud to cheer for: Buehrle, Sale, Hoyt, etc. Sox truly have been an embarassment since "tank" entered the vocabulary around 35th and Shields. Let's face it, we cheer for an abysmal wreck of a frachise that was not this horrible pre-tank. Sox actually had a chance yearly to do something in this appallingly bad division.
  20. I was one of the very few on the board who cheered for WINS and fought those who wanted the Sox to lose during the fake rebuild. It's obvious the baseball draft is a crapshoot and i'd have rather taken my chances keeping Sale and building the ol fashioned way. Cause the draft in baseball is a joke with so many Sox flops through the years. The tank/rebuild thing would have required amazing trades (not meh trades) and amazing draft picks to go with SMART GM/scouts to acquire some real bullpen pieces (besides closers, Sox have done a nice job there) to give the team a fighting chance in the era of starters going 5 1/3 innings max. Give me WINS forever. Tank jobs are for Sixers fans. Didn't the Bulls try to tank for a while there? They stink as well. GO SOX!
  21. Wonder what the Sox all time record in Detroit's new park (is it still called Comerica?) is. Sox are not built to win in big yard. Sox not built to win anywhere really but I can see why they consistently lose in Detroit. Still can't believe nobody got fired during the 10 game losing streak. It cost the Sox any relevance and makes it a wasted season. Puke loss today.
  22. I think this is one time the eye test aces all. Burger, folks, is no second baseman. OMG I see some ridiculously funny developments on bloops, grounders to his left, bullets to his right. Burger needs to be 1B/DH and that's that. 3B is acceptable but he's no Brooks Robinson there either.
  23. Prolly Lawrence. I've been a bit down on my hometown of Chi cause of reasons I shouldn't bring up here. Peace out.
  24. If Sox played their games in Detroit ... wow, they'd have Benintendi-like HR totals for most of their hitters.
