Nightengale: Sox have clubhouse issues
Last sentence I agree with; first sentence cmon. No way this team is better than it has shown so far. Now could it improve with the same roster? Maybe but doubtful. These players circa 2022 season have stunk. The bullpen again is way overrated. It's highly inconsistent although the closer is pretty good. The everyday players have been hurt and mostly awful hitters. They are for the most part not hitting home runs and their batting averages are low with low number of walks. This team should not be in first. And yes the injuries have been a factor too. The team could look a lot better but I bet u Tony and Stone and Hahn would all agree when guys are not hitting it out of the park nowadays it tends to look lifeless. I think a good manager might have the team one over .500 and that would really be stretching it.

Illinois High School Football Thread
Hey Harry. What's the verdict on the new football coach. Is he liked? Respected? Thought of as nobody special? A buffoon or a stellar replacement? I figured word would be out since there's offseason workouts and assembling of talent to be done. You need players to win. Does he have a good team coming back? Did he add any skill position transfers or big linemen, linebackers? Finally ... what's Badke doing now? Does he still office at Bro Rice? He's arguably a top two coach in Rice history. Hoping Rice can stay elite under the new guy and not turn into St. Laurence/Benet football (decent but not a contender for the trophy).

Do You Still Believe in This Group Of Players?
Today's win was the type that keeps u watching the standings at least out of the corner of your eye. Good to come back from down 2 to beat a bad Tiger team at home. Thing is Sox are about to get smoked on the road. I say this even after their nice sweep of SFG. Sox vs, divisional teams on road is one big LOL. Some blowouts, some bullpen implosions, some defensive lapses or bad baserunning calls ... we know they are a comin'

Nightengale: Sox have clubhouse issues
I'll give Pollock (whom I hate) credit for going oppo field for that big hit today. He does that in key spots a few more times and he might be a little more popular. Right now he's kind of Erstad-ish (though I got buried on here for ripping Pollock a few weeks ago when he was hot).

Nightengale: Sox have clubhouse issues
I'm a Tony apologist but I'll tell u one thing. Tony deserves to have the players quit on him and have discord after giving up the other day down only six runs. People get on my guy Ozzie for giving up on that season when he negotiated with Miami (even though KW wanted him out) but Tony giving up down six says everything we need to know. He's saying the White Sox players cannot concoct the same rally concocted against them earlier this season (was it Cleveland that got six in the ninth or something to beat the Sox? Or some other team). Yeah you aren't gonna win down six without help (some walks, a grand slam, then stringing a few more hits together) but it's a fricking joke to give up down six. It just is!!!!! Why did he take TA out in the fifth? Missed that one today. Loafing? That would be another no no. You don't mess with the team's best player. Bye bye Tony.

Nightengale: Sox have clubhouse issues
Hate to say it but if there's clubhouse disunity Sox have themselves to blame for firing Renteria. Managers don't make much of a difference and Renteria should still be the skipper. Getting fired after leading them to the playoffs was b.s. I had some problems with RR with moves in the playoffs but looking back they probably aren't his fault. Front office prolly had some input in his moves. Karma maybe hitting the Sox for an unfair firing. You can't tell me RR deserved to get axed after leading a historically mediocre franchise to a playoff berth.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
That actually was a good home win. Seven hits is a crappy total, but Det. only got five hits. Sox bullpen which is generally average at best, did a nice job as well. ... And I don't know if he's a big leaguer but when Sheets gets it going as he has lately it makes me happy. At this rate his low on the ceiling scale might be Dunn his high on the scale could be an all-star. Happy for him at least. That was a majestic homer. Sox still blow chunks and will NOT have a winning road trip coming up but I likey the victories and give them credit for wins. Overall bad homestand though.

7/9- Tigers at White Sox, 1:10
Have to be fair and post after wins too. Nice win. The bats were back. Is Sheets getting good? New approach to all fields or what? My guy Jose nearing .300. He's a pro's pro. Still we'll all be miserable tomorrow if Detroit wins 3 of 4. Would be nice to win.

7/8 GT - Sox v. Tigers (Gio vs. Skubal) @710pm - let's strive mightily to win
I was getting out of my car to get some groceries when they said Kelly was warming up. I laughed knowing he would fail of course. Sox have been snake bit all year. For instance, Robert hits that massive home run, just annihilating it. Then in the walkoff situation his at bat was simply pathetic. You can't be mad at Robert, just shake your head. Also Gio strikes out all those batters, for some reason falls in love with the change and gets it bludgeoned over the fence and 2-0 is 2-2. You can't be mad at Gio, but geez. And finally Abreu who is almost at .300 again, hits that pitch that on my screen looked like it had a chance to clear the fence. Instead it not only dies out there but there's a Tiger rightthere to make the easy catch. Can't be mad at Jose, but geez. What a lost season. At least none of us will be mad at virtually any of the trades they make this year except if they trade Robert, Eloy or Tim.

7/8 GT - Sox v. Tigers (Gio vs. Skubal) @710pm - let's strive mightily to win
How did Detroit know Abreu was going to hit it right where he did? Sox are a gawd awful team but unlucky too. Or other teams have better scouts.

7/8 GT - Sox v. Tigers (Gio vs. Skubal) @710pm - let's strive mightily to win
So frustrating. I'll leave it at that. Sox performance vs. the Central is laughable. Sox are also seven under .500 at home. Laughable. Just resign Hahn and Tony. Give it up.

7/7 Tigers @ Sox, 7:10 PM
I believe you in that it was bad. Didn't watch it. I wouldn't say he choked though. To choke would imply he was all scared and/or inable to get up for the moment cause of jitters. He's been through it before. He didn't choke. Now maybe he stunk or failed miserably but he did not choke there. That's the wrong word IMO.

Fire Tony Chant
I'd think "Fire Hahn" should be on some of the banners. I happen to think the GM is as bad as the manager or worse. Tony at least had a nice career with other franchises. His only huge failure was with the Sox.

7/7 Tigers @ Sox, 7:10 PM
Four hits is one big LOL. The Sox performance against the Central is one big LOL. Fans have had to suffer. Give us one joy by firing EVERYBODY please. Just let the Triple A staff come up and run the team the rest of the season or just let Abreu be player/manager and AJP be interim GM with Stone as consultant. We fans deserve something. Four hits??? During summer game at home against a lousy team? My gawd. And poor Stoney predicted early the Sox would hit tonight. Not mad at him. I feel for him being so dumb to say that. Not Stoney's finest hour. Gosh the Sox stink this year. and by the way, this game took 3 hours to play?? With so few runs and hits? I'd rather spend three hours in the library than watch that in person. Ugh ball.

Gas. High Gas (prices).
I wish gas prices were lower. My wallet is hurting badly.

That's a White Sox Quadruple Come Back Winner !!
There are a ton of reasons the Sox are mediocre to poor team. But it sure helps when the lift and pull brigade shows up. Robert, Eloy, Vaughn. The Cell is built for home runs. If Eloy and Robert were to stay healthy all year and hit a normal amount of HRs for them and TA bashed his 25 or so and Jose heated up to 30 or so and Grandal stayed healthy and hit a bundle of em and of course Moncada and Sheets, the Sox would be in much better shape. Yes I detest hit and pull MLB as it's become but since it's here the Sox need to stick to the formula if they want to win Central Division games. Lift and pull to 3-4 homers a game and get the starters to go six minimum, 6 2/3 if possible so the blah bullpen can cover 3 innings max instead of 4. Yes the HRs were nice tonight. 3 of em.

What to do with Abreu?
Just keep Abreu and dump some other guys. It's not that difficult. It'd be typical 2022 maneuver to get rid of the one guy on the team who cares the most and still is a decent player. Just treat him as untouchable and build from there.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
The Sox officially are an embarrassment. They get throttled again by Minnie, lose again to another Central Division team and give up down six runs. I wonder if Ozzie will call out Tony on the postgame. Stoney and Jason weren't appalled at giving up down six. There's no reason to pay big league prices to see a game on the south side the rest of the year. Go to a minor league game. Oh wait ... many minor league teams have started charging hefty prices as well. Either trade everybody or just tell the public the rest of this season is to evaluate players with many trades coming this offseson. At least admit it's over for 2022. This team can't win division games and is the most unlikeable team all of us true fans can remember.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
Why in the devil would you concede the game? Oops, this should be the fireable offense. Six runs down and you give up? Wow. This is unprecedented. The reporters should look it up. Is this the lowest run differential in history in which a manager put in a position player to pitch?? I'm serious. Six runs might be unprecedented. Elias?

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
Not sure why you want the team to stand pat. I guess cause you prolly don't trust Hahn to make the deals.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
I know the Sox are flirting with .500 but they are sellers. Also, Tony, who I still like and respect (cept for his legal problems), should resign after this series. Why prevent new blood from getting a managing job? Tony can just say he gave it a shot but it's pretty obvious the team is not going to be whole all season cause of injuries and he's not doing a good job with the guys he didn't expect to be playing. Maybe the new manager can squeeze another inning out of the Sox starters and figure a way to play .500 ball (team's ceiling) in a more entertaining fashion at least. This Sox team isn't fun. Start making the changes to make it fun. Team should be sellers and be willing to make a significant trade or three. Keep Robert and Vaughn, Tim and Eloy and make it clear everybody else is expendable including a starting pitcher or two. Start the rebuild without Tony. Not sure if Hahn should be the one to make the trades. Maybe some interim GM or even Kenny.

2022 Catch All
I actually have a GOOD friend who lives downtown who was going to run for mayor against Lori L next election. He looked into it extensively. He decided not to because he is single, very rich financially and figures his views are so conservative he fears the media might taken him down very very harshly. He was sort of a wild child in college and stories could come out (nothing illegal or anything just wild behavior). So he ain't running. A lot of my views stem from talking to him a lot and reading the mt. greenwood patch and anything Chicago related that doesn't require a subscription. I've also shared my nephew works down there as a firefighter and i have brother in suburbia, sister in suburbia, brother in suburbia and some cousins remaining in Chicago, others have moved to Nashville, Zona and texas so far. I love my city. It's still my city cause I was born in Christ Hospital and lived there for a signiicant no. of years. Peace.

Sox vs Minny 7/4/22 game thread Sweet Home Chicago, without Tony
That does say a lot. I used to like Moncada as a ballplayer. I love Jose A. but it'd be OK with me for him to get traded to a contender. I like Vaughn, Sheets and Burger but wouldn't cry over a deal. ... I like Cease and our other 5-6 inning starters but don't care if they are dealt. Not one reliever would sadden me if they get dealt. I think fathom hit it on the head. You know this team blows when it has no must-keep players except maybe Timmy A and Robert. Tmmy is still fairly special. And maybe Vaughn and Sheets and Burger. Burger's defense is always going to be meh. Though when the ball gets juiced the next season he may bash Horner-like HR totals.
