  1. Yes and that woulda meant contention had the Sox also added one more reliever who can get people out. Remember our division blows.
  2. So basically the Sox are trying to assure another 40-to-50 win season next year. I don't understand modern rebuilding. It's disgraceful.
  3. Is Fedde the guy who pitched overseas last year? Is he good? If he is we got 3 good starters. This team is not that far away from competing if they got 3 good starters. By my count we only got one good reliever though. Kudos to Pedro for not benching Vaughn in game two. Those 2 homers have to help his confidence some. If he'd been benched we woulda got swept and he'd be despondent over his badness in game one. Nice catch by DeJong. Kind of weird we're playing way better without Robert and Moncada. It'd sure help the team if Mendick was healthy.
  4. That one game I saw a picture of this year there weren't 200 people there.
  5. I wish somebody would count the actual amount of people at games where it's obvious under 1,000 are there. I'm assuming nobody is there on a Tuesday afternoon supporting our lousy team.
  6. If Sox can sweep the Nationals on Tuesday they officially are merely a bad team, not historically bad. If the Sox get swept, that is really gonna be deflating and could lead to another bad losing streak. If the Sox split, it means nothing. Just my takes.
  7. I was thinking promoting some more minor leaguers and trading Moncada for a solid starter even though the word starter now means a 5 1/3 inning guy.
  8. If I were Reinsdorf I'd meet with Getz immediately and tell him to make some more moves and upgrade. The team has shown life since he got moving and shaking and made some moves to improve a historically bad team. Maldy and Lopez being replaced would IMMENSELY help this club. Hopefully our young 3Bman can stick all year. And of course Pham has been a godsend. He's gonna need a day off soon though and we'll assuredly lose that game.
  9. Can't somebody teach him the lift and pull method? He can only survive in the bigs as a 40 HR guy or a doubles machine pelting shots off the wall regularly. I'd prefer he develop a HR stroke.
  10. Did Pedro start a Sunday lineup like my man, Oz, used to do? If so I'm enraged again. Woulda been nice to win all four. Sox are gonna have to win 8 of every 10 for an extended period of time if they wanna get back in the chase.
  11. Don't worry. Usually when I make a proclamation the other thing happens (Costanza-like).
  12. I actually am thinking if the Sox get good that will be a pretty good call embraced by fans. Even though many of us think such catchphrases are stupid, they seem to catch on quickly if the team is any good. Four in a row is worth getting excited about. I heard his close on the mlb highlights and I wasn't offended this time. We shall see if fans like it. If the Sox go back to dropping 8 of 10 it's ridiculous to do the south side stand up after a rare win. But if these Sox are for real, it'll be fine IMO.
  13. Agreed. I'd just hate to see him with two more 0-for-4s and suddenly be under .200.
  14. Now we even win a game in which nothing too spectacular happens. Pham-mania has hit the south side. He has turned this season around. Hope Getz is continuing to think of ways to improve the club. His moves since the season started have been good. I'd dump Moncada soon so as to not kill the good vibes. I see our 3B sparkplug is 0-for-8 last two games. Hope he starts hitting again. I want him in the big leagues. Suddenly Pedro is safe and Getz is safe. Beating Cleve 3 in a row is nice. Glad Eloy is still healthy. Nicky whom I despise had a great game. Victory baby.
  15. If that's true I so despise that line of thinking. I think some fans take comfort in the tank years. They write off year after year in a tank and then they ofttimes get these White Sox as a result. The first tank job was reprehensible. Everything about it. Teams need to stop tanking!
  16. It's amazing how bad a player Tim Anderson is. He's hitting .197 I see and I assume he's no Ron Hansen at shortstop still. Boots too many. One has to think his career is in jeopardy. He might be toast.
  17. I'll give him credit for belting six homers and I assume he's been playing a dandy SS (I don't watch the games so I dunno). If he keeps this up and is not an automatic out as he was early on I will be a happy camper and praise him.
  18. I may have predicted 20-35 wins but that's before they 'finally' changed the roster a bit. Thank goodness for the tinkering. I wish they'd make a few more moves. ... None of us want the team to lose BTW. You have to admit without some of the recent additions (we all know who they are) the Sox would still be losing eight of every 10 games or 9 of 10 IMO.
  19. Good! I thought we'd been discusssing on the board flipping EVERYBODY and stinking again next year.
  20. No hurry. Just play them and pay them whatever they get before free agency and enjoy them. For gawd sakes folks we don't need to sign everybody who is hot and we don't need to trade young prospects. Enjoy and build baby, build!!
  21. I'll say it now. There is no reason to trade Crochet or Lee! At some point you need good players to win frickin' pennants. Getting rid of good players is a LOSING strategy. And by the way Pham has saved this season. He saved Pedro's job. He's made Getz look like a young genius. WINNING baby cures all.
  22. I'm done with Moncada as a fan. Wish they'd let him do a minor league 3-game rehab then when teams see he's OK trade him for ice cubes. Get rid of him please.
  23. I really think the Sox have a chance to keep winning at a .460 clip if Clevinger does his job and they let Crochet pitch well into the season. Again, why can't Getz continue this. It's obvious if we got rid of some of the obvious stiffs and kept bringing up guys we'd have a chance. Lopez, Maldy, maybe even Beni should be jettisoned and we need to add a very good starter from somewhere. I know just these few additions have taken the Sox out of the lose 9 of every 10 category. Pham deserves a raise already. Finally the winner we've needed on the field and apparently in the locker room. And our YOUNG new 3Bman? A breath of fresh air. Yes we could lose 16 of 17 again but I wish Getz would go for the throat and make a few more moves that help the team.
  24. Let's face it. With Pham, Ramos, Lee as starters let's face it, naysayers like me were wrong. This is now a .460 type team. Should we all declare Getz a budding star? Even the guy I hated on, DeJong, is hitterish right now. Eloy hasn't gotten hurt in a bit and also is not disgusting anymore. Could he be gulp, improving? This Ramos guy suddenly makes our injured third baseman immediately expendable. Get rid of Moncada soon as u can. If the Sox could dump dead weight Lopez, Maldy and get them out of sight out of mind, mabe we can start showing real progress. And maybe we have good coaching staff. Our pitchers have not been miserable of late. Is somebody actually doing a good job with our starters and pen? Am I a primma donna or are the Sox suddenly a .460 to .480 team? Love. me some Ramos. Love hitterish guys. p.s. The Sox are getting close to being watchable. Will greg buy mlb.com? Not yet baby. I still don't believe.
  25. You said: "I don't want to get anyone too excited, but I think this team might just be putrid, and not worst of all time." I said: Agreed. Getz actually has made a couple of moves that have vaulted the Sox into mere lousiness but no longer all-time lousiness. Only way we remain in the race for all-time patheticness is if the bullpen turns to complete crud instead of being acceptable some nights. And if Eloy gets hurt and is out a long time. Sox's next step should be to find a way to get rid of Lopez and Maldy. Good move shedding Grossman.
