  1. They will NEVER sell before tomorrow's deadline. They are incapable of admitting mistakes, of which TLR is the biggest. Besides, if JR doesn't let Hahn add more dead weight DH's and rental RP's tomorrow, fans will stop coming and JR won't be able to sell his $12 beers and overpriced parking.
  2. Because this FO does not want to admit counting on him as starting RF was a total BS money saving move.
  3. I can hear tonight's excuses from the HOFBP..... "We lost to an All-Star pitcher, we caught Oakland at a bad time, we hit in bad luck all night".
  4. Please take Hahn's phone away from him so he can't trade what little talent we have in the minors for "help" this season. This team is done and they know it. Play out the string the next 2 months and then rebuild this roster in the off-season.
  5. It's an elaborate plot to further the narrative that injuries ruined the season AND to justify gutting our minor league system for 2 month rentals because "we're so close".
  6. Hahn's head must be exploding. He can't even get a deal for marginal rentals. However, this is really bad news for us. He is incapable of judging talent and a) his desire to be relevant and b) TLR pushing for bullpen help, will cause him to GROSSLY over pay for marginal RP's so he can say he did something at the deadline. The little talent in our minor league system is highly at risk with this guy in charge.
  7. I agree with your enthusiasm, but we'll be buyers not sellers at the deadline. JR has too many $12 beers to sell in August and September to wave the white flag. He'll gut the minors for 2 month rentals of RP's and Q. But to answer your question, anyone not named Cease or Robert is on my sell list.
  8. Please call Hahn and tell him that! He's going to f this up I just feel it.
  9. We better not fall in love with this guy yet. Hahn is probably shopping him for a 2 month rental on a 36 year old reliever as we speak. Seriously, we are at a huge disadvantage with the depleted minor league system (thanks Rick). We have to either give multiple guys to match a single player from teams like SD, STL, LAD, or give up major league controllable talent to even compete. That's another reason Hahn at the helm scares the heck out of me. He HAS to make some deals to feel he is doing his job and getting the HOFBP more arms. He's going to gut us.
  10. It's been a downward spiral, with glimpses of improvement since the ban on spider tac. If he doesn't find a way to get "right", he's not any help to the club.
  11. With the added wildcard teams this year it will be even more of a seller's market. Hahn will freak out at the cost of any legit LF bat/RF answer. He'll add two meh BP arms and give away three good/solid prospects further gutting our farm system. He's done nothing at the deadline in his career to earn any belief he'll get this one right.
  12. That's OK. We got Machado signed to that mega deal because we got Yonder. Wait.........what?!?
  13. This entire organization is incompetent. A real team would tear this thing down and build it back with a real GM and manager. We'll be buyers of relief pitchers before the deadline. I'm out.
  14. There is absolutely no reason he could not remain with the Sox long term. There's very little overlap with football season and none with regular season hoops. Baseball is his first love and the Sox his boyhood team. This can easily work. Unless of course JR pulls an idiotic Blackhawks move and tries to prorate his pay for the few games he'd miss. Losing him like we just lost Eddie O would be a kick in the nuts and a totally JR penny pinching move.
  15. Jason and Steve both commented on the "abusive heat and humidity" in Minneapolis last weekend. Cold have easily been dehydration or related issues. Don't put money on my diagnosis, I am not a doctor..........I just play one on TV.
  16. Bundy is 5-0 against the Sox and we make him look like Cy Young. BAD matchup today. Just win tomorrow and regroup at the break.
  17. I saw him in the dugout tonight and was wondering what is going on with his injury. All I can find is 5 week old gibberish from Hahn saying "we're taking our time with him". Does anyone have a current status on him?
  18. I'm not sure what the latest is with Eloy, but he needs to learn the difference between being hurt and being injured. Torn tendons and muscles are injuries. "Leg tightness" is hurt. I want to be careful with him, but the FO called this during the rehab. For now, it's best to shut him down until after the break. Do not IL him. We have enough DH's and 1B's to limp through (see what I did there) the Twins series. Having him roam that left field was going to be ugly anyway.
  19. If it came from Nightingale, my bet is it came from JR. He's anticipating all the "most underachieving team" stories that get written during the 4 day All Star break. He's laying it at the player's feet. I'm too lazy to find it, but there was a blurb in the Sun Times a week or so ago alluding to TLR "not imposing his will" in the clubhouse because he was concerned about the rap he came in with re: letting the kids play, blah blah blah. I think you'll see TLR talk during the ASB how he "tried to let the players regulate the clubhouse and not over control things". He'll go on to say that hasn't worked out, so "he'll be stepping in and controlling things". JR in his comatose sense believes the leak gives TLR cover for the horrible lethargy of the last 18 months. They're throwing the players under the bus and having the HOFBP ride in on his white horse to save the day. This FO is pathetically out of touch and refuses to take responsibility for the mess of the last 2 years.
  20. The killer for me is it makes no difference what the results are this year. Jerry is bringing this stiff and his cronies back next season. The thud you're hearing is our championship window slamming shut. You don't leave a failed GM in place to guide your rebuild. You don't hire a dinosaur that is completely out of touch with 21st century baseball to run your team. And you sure as hell don't double down on all of it by being an absentee owner who's actions (or inactions) tell his customers he cares more about $12 beers than winning for this city. Two years ago we could have hired any manager or Executive we wanted. EVERYONE wanted to jump on the bandwagon. In two years you won't be able to get the Skipper of the SS Minnow to run this farce. I'm out.
  21. I swear it felt like today when they got Eloy back the team had a brief players only meeting and said "f$#% Menechino, go up there and pull the ball and drive it with power." We hit 3 homers today, all to the pull side. Robert's was mashed. I can't remember the last time Vaughn pulled the ball with authority. Maybe something is shifting?
  22. I'm looking forward to Eloy coming back. His development has been severely stunted by the COVID season, the "lost year" with the pec injury, and now essentially half this season. A kid his age needs reps and he hasn't had them. Will be ever be a gold glove outfielder? Hell no. But he could be serviceable given more work. His bat needs 600 PA's each of the next 2 years to see what he can be. I know we (rightly) want to wrap him in bubble wrap, but the kid has to play...... and that means LF with the glut of DH's we have on this roster.
  23. They said he threw an 18 pitch "sim game". The reports were that the "ball came out of his hand well". Liam clearly wants to be out there tomorrow to begin the big stretch of games v. Minnesota and Cleveland. He'll tell the trainer whatever he needs to hear to get cleared. The guy is gamer. I hope he's truly healthy.
