  1. Yup..... right at the intersection of "suck" and "blow".
  2. Good teams dominate bad teams. Average teams lose to bad teams. We're an average team.
  3. That's why I love Francona. He knew his bullpen was overworked and they had 9 straight with us and Minny. He pretty much punted the game and put those guys back to back for yucks.
  4. Ultimately it comes back to what an earlier poster said; JR does not value what a real manager brings to the table. Hiring people like Bevington, Ventura, and others with no managerial experience is par for the course. He figured any idiot could pilot this loaded roster (in his mind it's loaded because it's the highest payroll he's ever paid). So he decided to correct his "biggest professional mistake" and hire TLR and then plan the parade. This year's failure will be blamed on injuries and Tony will be back because he's Jerry's buddy and that's how he rolls. Jerry thinks he's a genius because of all the Bulls championships. If Portland didn't totally f up and actually draft Michael #2, the Bulls would have never won anything.
  5. They (LaRussa) punted a minimum of 10 games (probably closer to 15) by "resting guys to stay fresh"/unplayable lineups. They so miscalculated this season that they were left in late August to then try to win at all costs. Their handling of Robert was horribly naive and borderline malpractice. He's going to be useless the last 5 weeks of the season because they didn't bite the bullet and IL him after the initial injury in Detroit. This falls on Hahn for not supplementing this roster the last 1 1/2 years with ML talent. He needs to go.
  6. Today on PTI from Michael Wilbon; "if Terry Francona was managing the White Sox, they'd be 20 games over .500. The White Sox are the most under achieving team of the season". What made it noteworthy to me was the segment had nothing to do with us. It was showing Francona and the Angels manager being thrown out on the same play. He clearly wanted to vent on LaRussa.
  7. Ladies and gentlemen, this is all about ego. Larussa's ego is as big as Montana. He is a narcissist who believes only he can turn this team into a winner He says he doesn't want to be a distraction, which is utter BS. It has always been all about Tony, 1st and always. It's also ego on the part of Jerry. Nobody tells a billionaire how to run his business. He basically would rather lose his way than win listening to others. Remember he broke up the Bulls because "players don't win championships management does". We'll get nothing nice until both these guys are long gone.
  8. Have we gotten confirmation that LaRussa did in fact travel back to Chicago with the team?
  9. Five words.....Terry Francona not Tony LaRussa.
  10. He's cleared to travel for the ceremony for Stewart tomorrow. He's not yet cleared to manage. The perfect "cover" is for him to attend the ceremony and then (citing unexpected fatigue) announce he's heading back to Arizona for further tests. He stays in Arizona for another week before they announce the joint decision of he and his doctors to stay at home through the end of the season. Hey......a kid can dream.
  11. "Nearing"?!? He has been full diva for some time now. It feels like he recognized that he had to play with a little attitude back in 2019. The pendulum swung way past equilibrium and he is full diva right now. Maybe sitting and seeing the team win without him will be a little wake up call.
  12. Serious question; did Bummer even have a rehab stint?
  13. Considering he's got all 12 of his homers at home, I'm not optimistic.
  14. Three teams within 2 games of the lead. The team that will determine the winner is...... the Royals. Yup, we all have to become Royals fans the rest of the way. They play Cleveland 8 more times, including a 6 game series at home to end the season! Nice gift for Cleveland. The Royals also play Minny 6 more times. If the Royals show up and play, we have a chance. If they roll over and show their belly (which is FAR more likely as they tank for better draft position), we're screwed. That said, we did this to ourselves. We threw away 10 games to those bums. We have to take care of our own business, but in the end losing the season series to a team that will likely finish 30 games under .500 will come back to haunt us.
  15. DeRosa can kiss my a$$. He probably hasn't watched 3 entire Sox games all year. Wants to play "tough, old school guy" to pretend he's relevant. Wants to manage. Worthless ex-Cub. Stay away from our team.
  16. As long a he is alive, he will never sell. He's on record that will never happen. I wish people would stop teasing us with these stories. JR thinks $1 paid to the government is $1 too much. He will NEVER pay the tax on the sale of the team. He'll leave it to one of his kids and let them pay the estate taxes.
  17. Kerosene Kelly as the opener. F'ing brilliant. I guess Tony still calling the shots.
