  1. There will be zero heat on Getz as long as JR owns this team. The day Ishbia buys the team, the heat index goes from 0 degrees to inferno. Getz will be toast on day 1 of the new ownership.
  2. Maybe not the right place for this, but I'm missing something? Smith had to tuck and roll to not get clocked by the throw home. Even if he sprinted straight to the bag, I don't think there's a chance for the DP. How many "3-2-1" double plays have we ever seen?
  3. It's amazing how good a manager looks when the players execute.
  4. I'm glad he challenged it. You get two in the post season and you can always ask the crew chief for one late in the game. Challenging Altuve was classic gamesmanship. He ALWAYS cheats on the grass to get a better angle as he's slowed down over the years. The final view showed his heel was on the grass as the pitcher started his motion. NY just botched the call. That said, now the cheater of all cheaters knows he's being watched and maybe doesn't get a good angle on a ball tomorrow that impacts the game.
  5. We lost 324 games over the 3 years prior to this season. We are the only team in history to make the playoffs after back to back 100 loss seasons (let alone three 100 loss seasons). That's the definition of playing with house money. Let's go in free and loose and kick the crap out of the trash can bangers in their Mickey Mouse ballpark!
  6. I don't mind Chase (and others) swinging from their heels up in the count and trying to do damage. I DO mind the lack of baseball awareness he shows sometimes. Up 3-1 with the basses loaded, the pitcher is in trouble there, not you. Look for a pitch in a zone you can drive and launch it. If it's not in that small location window, take it! It's then 3-2 and the pitcher is still in trouble. If Chase was "zone hitting", he would have never swung at ball 4.
  7. Me too. Houston seems way low to me. After tomorrow, they have 2 @ Sea and 4 @ Oak. That is 5 wins almost guaranteed. Since they have the tiebreaker v. the Sox, we can't afford any slippage. Texas has 3 v. Mets and 3 @ Minny. Not a tough road either. We need 6 more wins and a little help before I'll breathe easier.
  8. Fire this incompetent, clueless faux GM into the sun. There are 100,000 people in Chicago and virtually everyone on this board that would do a better job than Getz. We all knew we needed SP at the deadline. He got a hasbeen in Castillo and absolutely no help. I don't care what constraints JR put on him, he crushed any chance of this being a playoff season. I'm out.
  9. You hire a minimum wage manager with no skills or experience, this is what you get. Too cute by half using a useless opener today cost us 3 runs. Then "the book" says go with all righty/lefty matchups in the early or middle innings. Let's not have the gold glove outfielder in the game so you can move Peters to left in the 9th. Utter managerial malpractice. We should have been up 6-2 in the 9th and win going away. When we lose tomorrow (and believe me, we will), we leave town with ZERO margin for error, instead of up 3 games. I'm done!
  10. For a team that leads the league in runs scored, our offense looks pathetic on nights we don't score 10 runs. Yeesh.
  11. Just get out of the inning holding them right here, we still win this game. That said, he should NEVER have come out for 5th. It was painfully obvious he had nothing after the 3rd.
  12. We have to WIN this division. Cleveland plays a Hostess Cupcake schedule the rest of the way, and is fully capable to go 16-6 or better. Detroit quit and is handing them a 4 game sweep. We have to take care of our own business and not expect help. Help would be a bonus.
  13. Boys and girls..... we are really beyond tight right now. Uncharted waters and we are in a leaky boat. Pitching is spent and hitters trying to hit 7 run homers. Not looking good.
  14. Yup. We got 10 walks and scored a grand total of 1 run as a result (back to back walks to Ant and Mune plated 1 run). That means we got 8 walks and produced NOTHING. Is it time to drop Mune to 5th (or 6th), and put Colson in the 2 hole?
  15. "It's not who you play, it's when you play them" Hawk Harrelson
  16. Nope. They'll come to life against us.
  17. Well....... that didn't age well 🤣
  18. Not sure who comes out to pitch the bottom of the 4th, but it better be ABU (Anybody But Urquidy).
  19. With a fastball that tops out at 93 mph, he has nothing to keep batters honest to not just look changeup. Unless Getz was severely hampered by JR's budget/direction to only go after players with multiple years of control, failing to get another legitimate starter at the deadline was malpractice.
  20. Thanks for the blister news. It just appeared to me that he's hit a wall with his innings mounting. He's not the same guy he was 2 months ago. That said, if they shut him down for 10 days, let the blister heal, his arm has a chance to bounce back. I think he's only pitched 9 total innings in his last 5 starts. That plus an IL stint, and hopefully he bounces back strong.
  21. I hear Luis Robert is available. What?!? Too soon?
  22. What happened to Colson?
