  1. Adding him to an already potent Cubs lineup would be downright destructive.
  2. Xrays came back negative on Suarez's pinky finger, good lord he was in pain from Shane.
  3. Excellent point. You can add the screwball to that list that is also discouraged. The last White Sox pitcher I can think of was Hector Santiago. Fernando Valenzuela was lethal with the screwball. Steve Stone said that well thrown curveball is basically unhittable.
  4. McClain married Lou Bodreau's daughter, drank a case of Pepsi a day, had gambling issues, but what a magical run in Detroit before he was pretty much finished at 26 years old. That 1968 World Series was awesome. Mickey Lolich was the star not McClain
  5. Add to the list of .....What might have been... Denny McClain , the one that got away, duh!
  6. Don't forget to add Steve Stone to the great curve ball list, it got him a Cy Young. Sandy Koufax's last year was 1966 so I never saw him pitch but he had an awesome curve ball. Pete Rose said he had no chance against Koufax, "how in the hell do you that curve ball?
  7. The curveball is disappearing amid MLB's velocity surge | AP News Good read, I think you will find it interesting.
  8. It's way too early to give up on Montgomery, Teel, Q, Vargas, and Meidroth.
  9. I love the draft day threads, especially with the local kids getting selected.
  10. I wonder if Lee is getting moved with the addition of Sabol ?
  11. First in fBOMBs
  12. I watched the replay of Buehrle's perfect game on CHSN, that was awesome. Hawk, "call your sons, call your daughters, call your friends, call your neighbors." Sorry, all you Hawk haters out there I loved the call.
  13. Look at his splits and the last 28 games have been rough at the plate. Wearing down can be physical but usually it's the mental side of the game that is the toughest to deal with. In the words of Yogi Berra, "Baseball is 90 percent mental, the other half is physical"
  14. After the All-Star break I would like to see more pitching come up from the minors and more rotation with Meidroth and Sosa at second. It looks like Chase is wearing down.
  15. I never said what the Sox ranking was, just posted Baseball-Reference stats. I know they have a long way to go on both sides, pitching & hitting. It is nice to see some progress with the youngsters and other pick ups.
  16. This WAR stat has me a bit confused from current 2025 stats in Baseball-Reference.

  18. I am just tuning in, why did Smith get pulled out after 3 innings?
  19. If the Sox packaged Houser, Wilson and Cory Lee together to a team needing pitching and catching depth could they get a decent power bat prospect in return? I know the 3 Sox players are not elite, but Houser and Wilson are both having a solid year and Lee is a viable backup.
  20. Hits lefthanded, has some pop, can play all 3 outfield positions, ok I am on board for a look.
  21. These pitching scouting wins seem to be adding up.
  22. Houser timeline: Texas signed Houser in the off season on 12/3/24 and sent him to Round Rock where he was 2-2 with a 5.03 era. Texas then released him on 5/15/25. Sox signed Houser on 5/20/25, with 9 starts he is 5-2 with a 1.56 era
  23. I am confident that Bannister is already eyeing next season's rehab project.
  24. Bannister is having success
