4/12 Sox @ Royals 1:10PM - no longer in delay
True, but at least he's just squandering money and not real prospects who would be here in 2 years.

And had we lost, we would have lost on walks, infield hits and assorted junk. Nice to win a couple in KC.

Hicks is signed through 2027, with the Sox on hook for the entire 2027 salary ($12,500,000). Getz hoodwinked again.

2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/V.Lackey closing fast
Law says that Roch has "held serve" this season but hasn't taken another "step forward." Just stay well ahead of the pack. Tampa should be all over Lackey. He's athletic and they haven't had a catcher in years.

Schultz gets the call, Antonacci up too!
How about a bench-warmer?

4/7/26 Orioles @ White Sox 2:10 Chicago Time. Shane Smith SP
What an awful trade that Hicks trade was. We have better pitchers in AAA (and on the Guardians). He's had 1 good year: 7 years ago. Naive, naive.

Austin Hays to IL
Gonzalez is another one they might try in the OF. His offense is probably Charlotte fools-gold, but why not?

Baldwin out for the season
That's terrible. Hopefully the surgery works and he's back in business next spring.

4/6 Gamethread, 0's at Pale hose 6:40 pm Taylor vs TBD.
I had assumed that c. 1/3 of the bullpen roster decisions were made based on who has options; and let the out of options guys pitch, hopefully well, and then move them along.

4/6 Gamethread, 0's at Pale hose 6:40 pm Taylor vs TBD.
Doesn't the leverage come when he enters the game with runners on base? Otherwise, yea, I guess having him pitch the 1st isn't really any different than pitching, say, the 7th. If they are preparing him to start, it would seem, though, that he'd build up innings v. pitching 1 inning on a regular basis.

Schultz gets the call, Antonacci up too!
Give the young players time and at bats, especially if they are defensively sound. Meidroth is fine. If Antonacci can also play OF without stressing himself out, then he should. Dodgers, Mets, Jays et al play players all over. Good to see young guys getting to play and fewer vets crowding them out (even better when Benintendi leaves) Our top hitters are also high K guys: Montgomery, Murakami, Teel; would be helpful to balance that; middle of pack in Ks last year; toward top in this early season.
-
Pinch hitting for your home run leader from last season who is having a good game with Andrew Benintendi is a fireable offense.
They did it again today. Benintendi is really getting in the way. Hopefully by June or July they can just move on from him.

4/5 Games
I know he played some OF in the WBC, but has has he played any for the Sox?
-
White Sox Winner 6-3
That's why this is strange- he's pitching 1 inning, 2 days in a row, which is what closers do.

Sox vs Jays 4/3 Gamethread. 1:10 pm start
What is the theory beyond using Taylor for 1 low-leverage inning? Is this a prep for a different role? Or just what they think of him?
-
Sox vs Jays 4/3 Gamethread. 1:10 pm start
Nah. Sox outplayed the Jays today.

Sox vs Jays 4/3 Gamethread. 1:10 pm start
Sox win. Right on!

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
I'll take Acuna over Vientos. We can get Vientos in July anyway, when Getz trades Murakami....

Schultz gets the call, Antonacci up too!
But there is a shortage on this team: Benintendi is the primary DH Sosa was our HR leader last season. They can't just dump him and keep Benintendi...

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
I think our drafting team of Shirley et al has gotten a huge pass through all of this. Their accomplishments: Crochet - but that was Hahnber looking for a reliever; Taylor - a reliever; perhaps a great one in time, but not yet. Burke and Canon - 5th starters at best, thusfar. Montgomery - looked good last September; not so far in 2026. And in both years Ks way too much. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone but that's not a lot of production Yea, we've got a system that he drafted ranked 10-15; but the draft positions have been high as well.

Paez DFA'd, Sims called up
Perhaps kind of boils down to what I think Chitownsports was saying yesterday: Getz can't scout; and apparently no one in his circle can either. Hahn couldn't either and it always annoyed me that he didn't bring in people who could (especially since Hahn knew he couldn't scout); but he had KW, who could scout, until that fell apart. I'm not convinced that Getz is actually scouting all of these acquisitions anyway. Trust As far as Paez goes, he had barely pitched above A ball..what exactly did they expect? He was a weird Rule 5 choice to being with.

Sox at Fish #2, 5:40 CDT 3/31
Reprinted from the wrong board. At this stage in a rebuild, the bullpen should be scrap heap and our own prospects. Getz, however, has put resources into this bullpen. There some scrap-heap, but it's not via the waiver wire - he traded for most of those scrap-heap guys. He signed free agents; he traded for Hicks' fat contract. And where are the young prospects...the guys drafted 3 or 4 years ago and flamed out as starters? Well one, course, is on the Guardians...Getz chose to protect org guys over our own high draft choice who also happens to throw 98. This bullpen is a mess and it's absolutely on Getz (not that that matters). Good rebuilds take 3-4 years. This is year 3.

3/31 Game
Sorry, wrong board. I'll move my rant.

White Sox trade Curtis Mead to Nationals for minor league C Boston Smith
And Mead had too many of them. I'll take the swap.
