Story on Sox trade possibilities...
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Time to make up a rumor ! Noah Schultz for Jackson Holliday ! -
All your posts are very much appreciated.

You put quotes around " the only reason we are this bad is because all these bad things happened." Who is this imaginary friend of yours who said this ? You're quoting someone right ?
-
He's literally making up arguments no one ever said and answering them. And getting likes for it. Can't make this stuff up. Getz signs a bunch of roster filler because he couldn't sign much else. His best players who are injury prone get injured. No surprise there but they could've stayed healthy. Robert did last year.Moncada has had healthy years. So yes it hurts your record when they get hurt. It s like there's this imaginary person who said Getz didn't spend enough money to cover for the guys who usually get injured. NO ONE EVER SAID THAT. Why is he arguing with an imaginary guy ? Things were going to be really bad.We all knew that. Guys got hurt and things became really really bad. Ok great we know things are really really bad now. Am I telling anyone anything we haven't known since December or January ?

I had very realistic expectations which was exactly what happened. Of course when you dumpster dive you are going to have everyone complaining and it hasn't stopped. It appears your expectations were too high and unrealistic even though we all knew they would be terrible again this year. "Don't sign garbage retreads unless you think they are flippable ?" Do you even think before you write something like that ? Garbage retreads are garbage and the ones they got in trades or signed 75% of them likely weren't going to be tradable. It was painfully obvious that was the plan. I pointed it out to you in January. Take chances and maybe a few will work out and the others will save the young guys some innings. Especially the young arms. Fedde and Crochet worked out. Grossman worked out. Pham will bring something. DeJong too. Who else is a toss up. Brebbia had a decent career and relief pitchers are always a commodity at the deadline . They needed some major league talent that had a better than 50/50 chance of being flipped. He and Wilson were those guys. He can wait on Wilson when he pitches better . They have time on him. They lost their 2 best defenders for major amounts of time Robert and Moncada. DeJong has hit better but maybe fielded worse than expected. I remember a poster who said Fedde sucks. Posters always crap on low priced signings . That's the nature of those transactions. To continuously crap on the crap that we all knew had a high chance of being crap for months prior to the start of the season isn't particularly a news flash. -
I'm not the only one telling you that an extension isn't necessary to trade him nor is it a knock on Getz. If he's not traded by the deadline the likely reason will be uncertainty over his availability to pitch in the post season. Besides that it's difficult to respond to you if you keep adding unknown hypotheticals in the argument. I already don't know the length or cost of an extension nor do I know the date of injury, type of injury , length of recovery that you just added to the equation.

The King of hindsight. Players cost money. You need 26 guys on an MLB roster and guys at AAA was Getz supposed to sign 50 guys to minor league contracts this off season ? What would that have accomplished ? Should they also have not wasted money on Fedde ? There's another $15M you could have saved JR. -
That's better than him getting hurt after you trade for him after he signs an extension, isn't it ?

Looking foolish is usually used for playing the fool. The reason the majority got it wrong is because they went with the conventional wisdom regarding his innings limit and played the odds on his health. Those 2 things combined didn't seem likely to lead to more than 100 innings pitched. It might've been considered foolish to sayanythinge else. The fact is he changed into a unicorn. That was very unpredictable.

Sox select Chuckie Robinson, DFA Ellis and then claimed by Mets

He owns the website.A chicken s%*# mod wouldn't dare have an insulting multiple posts exchange with him. He's making the same point as you but oh look no one responded to it like they are with you. -

Wasn't there an attempt to call him the Condor at one point ?Conductor seems like a derivation or a mistake from the Condor name. -
How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to ron883's topic in Trade Winds 2024
There's always Touki Toussaint. -
That's what I've been saying all along. However the fact remains the since those last 2 $20M years are club options anyone trading for him can do so and basically ignore those last 2 years and just have him for the time remaining before those option years. They can decline those options if he isn't worth that money.

Reinsdorf is still the owner. And I'm not into rooting for him to die. I do roots for wins. I just know we aren't going resign the 31 yr old Fedde and Id rather get value that results in 6 years of cheap labor than nothing for guys who are always injured or underperforming. I'll take more wins later at the expense of signing a bunch of old veterans who are the only guys Reinsdorf let's them sign usually and then they suck. I'm shooting for a Tampa Bay type team.Keep trading guys with 2 years left before they get expensive. Keep the youth coming it, and maybe JR doesn't live to 100 and a new owner is more conducive to hiring practices that allow the team to join the 21st century.

Yes but all those guys and young guys like Lee , Cannon Kopech, Fletcher,Deloach Colas, Thorpe ,Sosa plus Moncada,Vaughn, Eloy and a couple more from the dumpster dives performing better could never mean getting close to that kind of record. I'd rather all the short contracts all stay healthy and play well and still get traded and not have the Sox even think about keeping Moncada and Eloy.
-
Not really at the major league level. I knew it was a longshot to get much back from a lot of the stuffs they signed . Fedde and Crochet great. Got a decent relief guy for Grossman.Kopech bombed. Pham doing OK. But if they were even on track to match last seasons record it would mean more guys doing better. Moncada,Eloy and Robert all pretty disastrous.Couldnt get much worse results on all 3 of those guys in the 1st half. Benintendi too. Vaughn until recently. DeJong might net something but I'm hard pressed to think anyone else gets much. Brebbia maybe.Banks? Wilson unless they keep him. I keep thinking one of the youngish OFs ( Colas, DeLoach , Fletcher or Julks ) might get moved paired up with someone.
