  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Brian Anderson with an error that lets 2 runs score. Game should be over. Mental error but not scored one. Still unearned runs though.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Anyone notice Vizcaino is fiddling with something. Looks to me as if he's throwing entirely slider/2seamer and is not using his better fastball. Yup your definitely right, I"ve seen him throw one 4 seamer. Bad communication by the defenders caused viz to let up a couple unearned runs but he was pretty impressive to me this inning how he battled back with the bases loaded and nobody out.
  3. I was sold on jurrasic when I saw him at soxfest.
  4. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) I don't think that's an accurate statement. Charlotte does allow several points per game more than NC State, but a good chunk of that can be attributed to their offensive style. NC State runs the Princeton offense, which is designed to work the clock and get quality shot. That shaves off several possessions for the other team. A better indicator would be the oppenent's field goal percentage, which is .432 to .438. That's not that much of a difference. Considering that Charlotte scores about 5 points more per game, that should at least equalize whatever gap there is on defense. Good stats zoom. To tell you the truth my comment game more from watching them play then stats so that's just my opinion on both teams. EDIT: Also, you say Charlotte averages 5 more points per game but like you said that's to be expected because they won't take as many shots as charlotte because of their style of play. So you look at fg percentage there and Charlotte shot 43.7 percent from the field and nc state shot 46 percent from the field.
  5. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) I got Charlotte over NC State. I don't really see why NC State has so much support, they've underacheived all year. Their only major accomplishments were beating another underacheiving team twice in Georgia Tech, beating another major underacheiver in Maryland, and beating Wake without Chris Paul. I know Charlotte hasn't had any major victories either, but they had considerably fewer opportunities. I'm pretty confident Basden will seriously slow down Hodge, and the rest of NC State's team is a collection of mediocrity. Nc State plays defense, Charlotte on the other hand doesn't.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) I respect your opinion, but your basing your opinion upon less than ten innings pitched. I certainly can't tell whether or not a pitcher "can pitch" based upon ten innings pitched -- or, at least make an honest opinion on the guy. To me, at least, it seemed like he was pitching against scrubs -- and, while he did a good job of doing that, he also left a couple of pitches over the heart of the plate -- pitches that, if are going to a guy like Derrek Lee or Nomar Garciaparra -- would be crushed. I'd like to think that Kenny might have found some diamond in the rough, but his IP in the minor leagues, and not even being able to produce a sub-four ERA tells me differently... Fair enough and I'm not basing my opinion on his results so far. I did say from what I've seen he can pitch. Like I said I need to see more of the guy but so far I like what I see.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Don't forget GT either with that Schlerser dude. But Utah and Bogut and going to OWN all of their asses anyways so it doesn't make much of a difference. That's Schenscher DBAHO, Schenscher
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) I agree with Cerb. So what, Walker has had a few nice outings? Maybe a nice guy to call up in September, too... But he shouldn't be anywhere near our major league roster if we want to compete. Hell, give me Man Hands, Diaz, or Adkins over him. He has a career 4.10 ERA in the minors -- he's average in the minor leagues. The guy is nothing special, IMHO. I'm not ready to give him a roster spot or anything but he can pitch. Maybe he's one of those diamonds in the rough kenny sometimes finds. From what I've seen he works both sides of the plate, he changes speeds, he just knows what he's doing out there. Like I said, don't get me wrong I'm not saying he deserves a roster spot yet but I like what I see out of him.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) Utah, Fair Dickenson, Montana, UCF. No ODU??? They have two aussies on their team.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I wish I could, but I don't see much else happening. Some could argue that I have a couple "sleepers," being that a lot of people don't think Washington even is worthy of their number 1. I know, I'm just joking with ya, washington and kentucky can almost be considered sleepers in their brackets. I know for me I have wash losing to pitt in the 2nd round and kentucky to team dbaho in the sweet 16.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Heckling Sosa in Baltimaore may be hazardous to your health. Haha, good point.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) 1-Illinois 2-UNC 3-Wash 4-Kentucky Going out on a limb there greasy
  13. Rowand44 replied to ptatc's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Last year they were selling them outside of the park but who knows if they'll do that this year. My advice use your money to buy sox clothing not to heckle the other team.
  14. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) holy crap Carlos is killing the ball... thats awesome.. I cant wait to see him when they come to Houston I got a feeling Carlos isn't going to make it through the season healthy.
  15. QUOTE(shagar69 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Many people, including me are gettin on the Cuse bandwagon. Any of you guys (besides vitale) like Duke to make the final four? I like Duke to win the bracket. I have 'cuse losing to the Coppentines, I think 'cuse is being way overrated going into the tourny but that's jmo.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) I'd much rather play Zona than OSU. Teams that much up well with Illinois are ones with post players that are dominant. Arizona doesn't really fit that bill, and we all know Luth would shut down Salim I'm actually pretty damn worried about Nevada. Channing Frye ring a bell?? Haven't we been over this already The reason I think 'zona matches up well against them is that they start two players 6'10" or over. While Powell is a damn good player he's short for a power forward. I just think 'zona's size will give Illinois some problems. Also if Salim is hot they're going to be almost impossible to beat. I think that should be one hell of a game though.
  17. Buehrle getting knocked around a bit now, don't know why he came back out to pitch this inning.
  18. QUOTE(shagar69 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) wow, u got some guts man. IMO Nova is a good bet to lose to NM. and if not that there is no way in HELL that Nova can beat the Heels, should they somehow get past fla. which in itself is hard. You know what, I'm in a 200 plus person pool you have to have some guts to win it and I've liked nova all year and I think they can beat anyone. Anyways, if they can get by the first weekend I think they're good to go, New Mexico and Florida scare me more then UNC.
  19. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) You're tellin me, I can't wait for that one. I hope there are no upsets before those 2 square off. (Hint: the traditional 12-5 upset.) I have 'nova in the final four but that New Mexico game scares the s*** out of me.
  20. I got utah in the elite 8.
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Digger thinks that as well. I have to disagree. By the way, does anyone else think this is an extremely tough bracket? If Illinois wants to make it to St. Louis they are going to have their work cut out for them. Texas- Fairly consistent. Nevada- TOUGH. This is a damn good basketball team that isn't really getting talked about. Arizona- Extremely difficult. Scares the hell out of me. Oklahoma St.- Real good team. Actually, an argument for a #1 seed can be made for the Cowboys. When they are on, they are real tough. We are really going to have to play our best to make it out of Chicago. IMO the Illini have a fairly easy road to the elite 8 but then it's going to be extremely tough whether it's zona or osu, I personally think they'll be playing zona in the regional final and I think zona matches up pretty well against them.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) Salukis over Illinois!! No? Oh well, thought I'd throw it out there. You know what Brian, even though I think OSU is damn good they're going to have their hands full with SIU, the reason I say this is because OSU isn't a huge team and that should really help SIU who's guards can play with anyone's. First SIU has to get past st mary's though, that should be a great game.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Sweet, thanks Brian. Jas, you asked a question and then you locked the thread Your obviously pinning these threads, I think that's a good idea.
  24. Nevermind, found it.
  25. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Illinois plays at 8:40 central on Thursday. The game time are up at cbssportsline. I also think we should have 4 separate, pinned threads for the tournament, one for each region, or we're gonna have way too many posts in a short period of time and it's going to be impossible to read. Just a suggestion. Krush where do you see the times?? I can't find them there, I'm just probably being an idiot though.
