  1. So was Getz waiting to see whose market dropped late?
  2. The longer this drags out, the more I wonder if they really are keeping Fields.
  3. He was effectively an opener anyway. https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/why-white-sox-are-sending-michael-kopech-to-the-bullpen/546978/?cid=sm_npd_rsn_chi_fb_mn&fbclid=IwAR0gR4TMjrfOx9ryy2TF5TlF2ZgxdEQ_uvep_HUMlNE0VPa21lpeJqkHIGQ
  4. 4.041 years of service
  5. Run along now.
  6. And yet after a month, here we are. That should tell us all something.
  7. Oh he has the talent. I believe the phrase is million dollar arm, ten cent head.
  8. And yet here we are. Reading between the lines and completely guessing? They have been telling Kopech what to do for years and he doesn't. This happened last year, and already in a months time under new eyes it happened again. There is more to this than we know. Knowing Kopechs history and mixing that in makes this add up pretty clearly.
  9. He's had shot after shot after shot.
  10. I struggle to see how him getting his ass kicked for 3.1 innings every 5 days does anything either.
  11. TBH, if this is happening right, it is almost certainly because Michael Kopech continues to be a mental case and a trainwreck. They obviously see that he can't handle it.
  12. What rush? He's over 4 years of service time now.
  13. He has sucked for years as a starter, and has sucked again this spring. I am sure this wasn't a planned thing, but a reaction to Kopech not being able to make any progress, and in fact regressing pretty decently.
  14. Well, I guess he will come at a massive discount at least. That's about the only good thing I can say right now.
  15. His spending follows attendance and not vice versa. They will spend again when people show up again. It's the way it has been for 40 years. We might not like the spending, but they typically do. We have seen an attendance spiral and so now payroll is following.
  16. So many other people have gotten grief, but this guy has never been able to get out of his own way, all of the way back to breaking his hand punching a teammate.
  17. All this means is they wanted Dylan Cease more than they wanted these four players. It doesn't mean they didn't want those four players on their own merits. And yes, making deals where you get kids is fraught with risk. That's why you try to stack these deals with as much potential as possible to overcome inevitable failure risk.
  18. Just because you trade someone doesn't mean you didn't want them. It may well be another team wants them more. Keep in mind Drew Thorpe specifically never threw a regular season pitch for the Padres organization.
  19. I mean at the top of that list Moncada, Eloy and Lopez made it to the majors at the top of their game, and regressed at the major league level.
  20. There is zero chance he gets fired in the next three years without committing a crime. Even then using the TLR standard, probably not.
  21. Until there is a team worth adding to, there isn't much point in just "adding payroll" Outside of filling a roster with guys who can make sure you aren't harming the kids you care about, you are just setting money on fire until adding to a roster means adding important wins and not just going from 60 to 64 wins.
  22. That's the thing I never got. If you want to be cheap, invest in things that give the most bang for your buck. For the cost of a crappy end of the pen reliever, the Sox could build one of the best farm departments in baseball between scouting and development. But we go cheap there. Sign one less crappy utility guy a year and put that money into the system.
  23. List of Royals names post incoming in 3...2...1.......
