The biggest problem with all his manufactured excitement is he knows very little about the White Sox. I bet before he interviewed for the job, he couldn’t name 5 guys on the roster. Now he’s supposedly a Bill Veeck expert, but last year he didn’t know how to pronounce his name. It really make all his exuberance seem even more insincere.

Even in Wrigleyille, those businesses make nothing off season. Goose Island used to have a place there but lost their lease. The landlord wanted to put them on a month to month, but they wouldn't do it because they would get screwed if he stopped it before or during baseball season, the only time they made money.

I find it hard to believe Houser doesn't go.

Of course it wouldn't, but that doesn't matter to JR. They can use that money elsewhere.

So unless he's Ohtani the rest of the season, JR is taking the buyout.

Does anyone really think the Sox will pick up Robert's option if JR isn't convinced he's almost guaranteed to be a $30 million player next season?

I understand the concept of picking up his option, but if they don't trade him and he's not spectacular the rest of the season, JR isn't picking it up. He doesn't like paying good players. He certainly isn't going to give $20 million to a question mark if he can easily avoid it.

If they can get what they got for Slater, that's a pretty big win for Getz overall.

For over 50 years now, I have always thought he was the only guy that looked cool wearing a helmet in the field. Everyone else looked like a dork.

He does. But he’s a guy that throws 102, so he has a floor of spectator. The way the Sox haven’t been able to draft and develop offense, I would think getting a hitter his level would be a nice get. Certainly it would take something really good, and I agree teams are probably not going to offer what you or I think is equal value but offensive.

Of course he does. But he’s about profit or winning which is the exact opposite of what he was saying when he bought the team. My biggest issue with him is refusing to hire people probably because he won’t be considered the real GM or player develop guy. Seems kissing the ring is more important, which is odd because he supposedly is a pretty nice man. Bulls fans have more to complain about. They actually show up, and the Bulls goal is NBA hell. Just dont pay the luxury tax. I wish him good health, but for the love of God, give up control of the team.
