9/1 Gamethread Toussaint v. Rodriguez
If he can't hit at least 600-625 ops numbers doesn't matter if he's Johnny Bench or Pudge Rodriguez.

It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
Robertson and Hendriks isn’t a Sox thing…it’s Hahn. KW only did it for one season when he brought in Billy Koch and it exploded in his face. When those KC pens with Holland Davis Escobar started to get increasingly expensive…that’s when their competitive advantage was lost. Chicagoland saw that firsthand with Davis/Soler and then Escobar years too late with the Sox.

Getz interview...
Everything goes back to John Schuerholz with Atl. That said ... the Atlanta connection was ALSO Nick Hostetler's biggest selling point. And looking at Royals' drafts the last decade under Moore, Witt Junior has been almost the lone success. A number of pretty high first rounders that haven't even sniffed the big leagues. In some ways...Royals hitting on that run of first rounders in the late 00's along with Sal Perez was almost as improbable as the Sox run of Ventura Thomas Alex Fernandez etc.

Why would Hader sign with a team that would give him the least amount of save opportunities? They’re not going to outpace the big spenders for yet another so-called elite reliever this offseason when it makes almost no sense…even to. The most optimistic season ticket holders.

9/1 Gamethread Toussaint v. Rodriguez
He was expected to have more pop but he’s always been a high ceiling guy due to his position and defensive ability. Certainly was drafted high enough. Matt Manning has also been on a really nice run of late. All that said, the Tigers are 25-15 versus the Central and White Sox-like against the rest of baseball.

“Colas not known for his defense…” Detroit announcers at least credited his strong arm. Shin high basket catches probably not how Getz drew it up on the board.

Getz interview...
Any specifics about analytics, scouting, Dominican Republic, Pacific Rim, talent development? At this point we're left hoping for Boston and/or Katz to be gone. A pitching coach with an all encompassing philosophy change for the entire system would be another necessary piece since they won't be buying any quality FA pitchers to repair the rotation.

No Hosmer or Alcides Escobar? Probably bringing in Mike Sweeney to coach as well.

The press conference thread
It should take everyone at SoxTalk no more than an hour or so to look at the Top 30 list and realize the majority of talent is at least 1-3 years away. The first order of business should be sitting down with Katz and mapping out a plan for the Top 15-20 starting prospects in the minors as well as developing a strategy with Cease Kopech and Crochet among others for 2024. Whatever you call it (Camp Birmingham)... developing starting pitching internally is going to be a critical key to success without spending serious money to bring in talent via FA.

I think turning his back on the Royals' Grifol and 2014/15 legacy constitutes a breach in the Getz/KC Success Backstory which is at least 1/4th or 1/3rd of the reason he now finds himself as White Sox GM. Tossing Grifol out would undercut some of the validity of the KC Success Translates to Sox World Series team lol. If they were so tightly connected in KC...why would Getz blame Grifol and not KW or Hahn instead for 2023? Conversely, it would look bad to not support him now as manager when he clearly could have voiced his concerns a year ago...that Grifol was not well suited for the Sox manager's job.
