  1. I think this would be an enormous mistake. The dude is a gamer, full of TWTW. Not even being sarcastic.
  2. Strong C to a light B. I understand the 102 loss argument, but I don’t feel things are that black and white. There’s a whole lot of nuance and circumstance behind that number. He came on the scene with a roster in complete disarray coupled with a severely toxic locker room. He made a slam dunk managerial hire and has brought in character-first players to completely rebuild the culture of this franchise. Doesn’t matter how great your roster is if the culture is irreparably toxic. To me, he has aced the biggest test of his tenure. Once you have a strong culture (and a dead Reinsdorf, if we’re being honest), it becomes much easier to attract talent and bring guys up from the minors to a good, supportive situation.
  3. Gotta give Brooks at least a few games out there, eh?
  4. June and July are going to have a lot of Ls. Brutal.
  5. Habit. I truly believe Sox fans are a group who are preconditioned to b****, moan and whine about this franchise. It's the result of damn near 50 years of incompetent ownership and underperforming rosters....it's essentially part of Sox fanhood to complain. You can't follow this team closely and not complain. I don't watch NEAR as much Sox baseball as I used to...the LaRussa/Grifol debacles were the last straws. When I do happen to watch a game and jump in the game thread, I'm amazed at how negative they usually are. And then I remember, these are the DIE HARDS still watching damn near every game no matter the Sox record. They have a completely different perspective than I do. I'm fucking thrilled to see the young guys hitting..could mean I can get back to regularly watching the Sox again (I miss them!). People that watch every game? They sure as s%*# aren't happy consistently losing. Losing means far more to them than me, and a month and a half of good offense means a lot more to me than it does to them.
  6. I sure hope we've got scouts every damn where. Independent leagues, Mexican leagues, Latin America, Asia.....I mean, just identify people to take a flyer on, sign em cheap, and give em a shot. We've literally nothing to lose at this point. Maybe get lucky and find a diamond in the rough. Our system has zero answers.
  7. Dude, our BP combined salaries is, what, less than $5M. The f*** you expect? It’s a rebuilding year.
  8. Headed to the game tomorrow night. If you’re a gambler, bet the house on the Bravos.
  9. Ha! I meant the media. Anyone hear anything? Out of town so don’t get to see the postgame show
  10. If we don’t get an answer in the post game, a lot of people aren’t doing their jobs.
  11. Top of the order, bottom of the 9th, and the closer isn’t used? Cmon. I get going by the gut but that’s an incredibly easy decision both by analytics and feel of the game. Oh well, good series.
  12. Yeah, I don’t get it. Even if you’re trading folks away for peanuts, you’re saving a few bucks and opening up spots for young guys. Holding onto everyone is counterproductive.
  13. This is amazing news. I’m so happy right now. Like everyone on this board, I’ve loved the Sox for a very long time and recognize the damage that piece of s%*# has caused over the years, even sabotaging his own team’s World Series hopes to save money. I haven’t watched a full game in like 2 years. I refuse to watch something that just pisses me off. With that asshole leaving, I’ll actually be able to watch and spend money on my favorite team again, things I’ve seriously missed. good riddance.
  14. Damn. RIP. He seemed like good people. Always thought it was cool, way back in the day, that these teenaged kids were running such a great site. Heads was a big part of that.
  15. I can't remember who it was, but one of the big baseball reporters wrote a longform piece on the White Sox and how shitty of an owner JR is. Within that article were many examples of extreme cheapness reaching waaayyy beyond just payroll. I can't remember examples, but just cutting corners on just stupid s%*# that every other team in the league takes care of for their players.
  16. A strong C. He wasn't brought in to win, or put together a winning roster, so the on-the-field stuff is essentially meaningless, in my eyes. He's flopped on the trade front but has countered that with a complete reorg of the baseball side of the business. I would argue that's a harder job than most GMs in the league have in any given season.
  17. I live 45mins from the Braves stadium. One of the best run organizations in baseball is essentially right on my doorstep. Meanwhile, I'm a fan of one of the most incompetent and ineptly run organizations in professional sports. These last couple of years are really putting my Sox dedication to the test.
  18. Crochet is a guy you keep. Yes, the injury bug has gotten him. But this is a guy who came up in 2020 with just a few IP in the minors and made ML hitters look silly. He looks composed and dominant now that he's back healthy. He's worth the investment, imo. Kopech? Along with Eloy, the MOST disappointing of our rebuild hauls, imo. Incredibly gifted arm who pitches well when he's in the right headspace. Unfortunately, we're learning that, more often than not, he's in the wrong headspace. He's aware of it, too, and has taken measures to better prepare himself mentally. No dice...he just can't get out of his own head. He should be dealt the moment we can get something for him.
  19. I wasn't tuned in for all of the game, but did catch him telling viewers Moncada was batting lefty against a new reliever while the camera showed Moncada standing in the LH batters box against a righty. I thought I was listening to the radio call for a moment.
  20. If you're sending him to Charlotte to stretch out his innings as a starter, why can't he do the same thing in Chicago on a 110 loss team? Serious question...not being a dick.
  21. Pretty nice return for '23 Cease, very underwhelming for '22 Cease. I guess that makes it a net fair deal.
  22. Live round recovered at Gate 4 which is the opposite side of the park? And how the f*** does a gun go off in the stadium and the game goes on, like no one noticed or something? Nice security, Jerry. You're on a roll, pal.
  23. Nashville isn't happening. First, taxpayers just ponied up a s%*# ton of money for a new Titans stadium. Second, the southeast is Braves country. It would be very difficult for a different team to make inroads into that longstanding Braves fanbase. The threat to move is just a negotiating tactic. With the current lease ending in six years, this is a good time for the Sox to start negotiations on a new stadium deal. For one, with the Bears basically headed out of Chicago, the political climate is good for the Sox to negotiate. Second, Jerry knows the team will be sold when he dies. If he can secure a sweetheart deal from the city/state now, he'll up the franchise valuation significantly, just in time for the sale. Point being, the media is taking normal due diligence by the Sox and creating a whole bunch of clickbait sensationalism.
