He was actually pretty good vs. LHP last year. His career splits vs. lefties actually isn't completely atrocious either.

I'm guessing the hope for the FO is Wheeler and Hamels.

One thing to consider is that Joc is absolutely useless vs. lefties. You have to platoon him, whereas Calhoun's splits are much more balanced. That being said, Joc is a much better hitter.

I can easily see Grandal being a 4-5 win player for the next 2 years. This is a huge get and great market value if he declines at a reasonable pace.

No I think you can still split Grandal between DH and C. He's not getting any younger.

People thought he'd get 4 and 70 or 3 and 53. So $17-18 AAV was the expectation. To get him this early you'd need to add a little bit, but it wasn't that much of an overpay.

His home/away splits are pretty telling. He pitches in the most pitcher friendly park in baseball. If you take him out of Oracle and put him in GRate for half his starts, he's gonna end up with a 4.5 ERA.

Nagy needs to stop calling the plays. He really is his worst own enemy. We ran all over the Chargers out of I form and he literally stopped using it after the first drive of the half. Even bum ass Mike Davis got yards out of that formation.

The thing with Tim is that he will walk more when he doesn't hit. It was the case last year. I think at minimum you're gonna get a .280 OBP out of him. Now that's pretty bad but with the improvements at the plate he's made this year I doubt he ever goes back to hitting .250 unless he reverts to his old pull happy ways of hitting. The improvements this year have been real. He probably won't hit .330 again but I'm pretty confident he's going to hang around .300.

Lopez has actually been a league average starter this year according to FanGraphs. We can live with him being that as long as we get a big fish starter this off-season and Kopech and Cease take steps forward next year.

His peripherals fell quite a bit last year and got even worse this year. His 30th birthday really took a toll on his arm.

The fact that Yoan's got twice the amount of fWAR as Machado does make me feel great though.

I said it right after the Padres signed him...but Machado chose the wrong home park to play in. Petco is heavily supressing his numbers. He's got a .359 wOBA on the road and a .303 wOBA at home. I said I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with a .340 wOBA this year and it's looking like he'll do even worse than that.

Maybe he got tired of banging his sister.
