QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Sure, why not? Let's ride the declining old veteran hitter death train until it crashes! I think you are going to be disappointed though. There's no way they go completely young and sell off everything of value. J.R. will be planning on winning in 2016. Regardless of what we think or want.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) They're saying Hanley is worse in LF than Manny was, and they're saying it's because he refuses to care at all. Oh yeah I know. I'd never ask him to play LF though.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) Everything about Hanley Ramirez offends me as a baseball fan. Bringing him into this situation right now makes things worse, not better. The on-field play of our current team offends me. I usually gamble on talent. I understand your points though.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:20 AM) I would rather have Randle and Okafor then Cousins Really? That's an awful defensive front court though. I know Cousins doesn't play much D either. Are we positive that Okafor will be Cousins offensively though? Cousins is a knucklehead but he's so good.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) I have had this exact thought in the back of my head. The Sox did sniff around Sandoval before tapping out fairly early due to the cost. Would the White Sox be interested if in a Hamilton or Prince type of deal where the Red Sox send a boatload of cash along with Sandoval for some prospect package? I've never really loved Sandoval. Hanley is a selfish player but he can really rake.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) Knowing the White Sox, a package will contain some combination of 3 things: 3B, C, and SP. For sure. Their top guys are Max Stassi © and Colin Moran (3B). They are both putting up .OPS around .600 though. Moran was a former top 5 pick and Stassi was highly regarded but they've been pretty bad.
-
Would anyone on the board be interested in Hanley Ramirez or Pablo Sandoval? They have a lot of money left on their deals. Is it something the Sox should consider though? Hanley could come to Chicago and play at 3B occasionally or DH. Would Boston take back Danks/Ramirez to be rid of Hanley? How much $$ would they have to eat for White Sox to deal?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Appel, Phillips and Nottingham for Samardzija. Would the Astros do it? How about JD Davis, Nottingham, and AJ Reed for Shark. I was just looking at their prospects. Moran and Stassi have been bad. Jeez.

White Sox July 2 International Signing Period preview
Y2Jimmy0 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) Does that include signing Viciedo to a $4+ large contract and then releasing him a couple of weeks later? Viciedo got like $700,000. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) That's all you got? Why is he good? Yeah that's all I've got tough guy. I like his game. If he sneaks into the mid teens, I'd be fine if the Bulls went up and got him. I'd also be fine if they stayed at #22 and took a player. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers today.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) 0.5 games worse and they've played 1 more game, to be fair. But yeah, they might be in about as big of a mess as us...although they do have a whole lot more young contributors to sub in as a way to try to fix that in the next few years. And they just spend over mistakes. The White Sox won't and can't do that.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Why? Because he's good and the Bulls need a backup PG.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) The Milwaukee newspaper reported it this morning. If anyone wants espn insider stuff on the draft pm me with an article link. Cameron Payne to the Bulls would be awesome. They'd need to get up pretty high though.

Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Y2Jimmy0 replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I didn't read any of this but Dave Cameron is the smartest guy in the room. All you have to do is ask him. f*** him. -
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Thanks for the buzz kill Joshua. Hopefully the 2015 Cape and the 2016 college/prep seasons produce some hitting talent for next year's draft. If not, then the Sox draft another future front of the rotation stud with their inevitable top 10 draft pick. If the draft is loaded with pitching and those are the best guys available, they will probably keep taking pitching.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) It's got major problems. Having a character clause isn't one of them, in my view. Man I totally disagree. I want the bets players in. Not the best players who are good guys as well. Should they pull every dirtbag out of the HOF?

Who represents the Sox in the All Star Game?

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Saves are arbitrary and uninformative... Well agents, managers, GM's, coaches, arbitrators all must be crazy (since this is how Closers get paid). Did Andrew Miller get paid for all the saves he has in his career? No. He got paid because he's awesome. Robertson is a really good pitcher. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) esp if his avg is 200 with 20 hrs. And if he was that bad, he'd go back or be gone. He actually has a wRC+ of 116 this year. In 2012 he had a 134, 2013 he had a 109, and last year with the White Sox was his worst ever at 77. Her has a higher walk rate this year than the past too. He has 30 walks and had 49 all of last season. On the flip side, his strikeouts % is actually higher than last year. 33% to 30%.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) Well it's time to move some dead weight and bullpen pitchers and see what some of these guys have. Kottaras at least hits like he belongs in the majors. Guerra and others who are/were at Charlotte pitch like it too. Have you ever seen Kottaras play? He's awful defensively -
Great but he was still one of the best hitters ever. Are we supposed to pretend that that never happened? The Hall of Fame is a joke. Then again, I want everyone in.

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:05 AM) No doubt about it Fulmer really is Filthy Fulmer, he does worry me prospectively though, did we really get a starter? If so is he frontline? His size, goggles, velocity, arsenal, tendency to hit the dirt, all have me thinking he's a future reliever. We all knew Sale and Rodon were frontline starters when drafted but there is so much question about Fulmer's future. I'd like to see him win the CWS, sign for slot, go to AZL/GF in mid-July, then W-S, then Charlotte like Rodon. If he develops the command, adjusts to pro-ball, and perfects his arsenal, hopefully he can remain a starter long term. He reminds me a lot of Marcus Stroman, while he's most commonly compared to former Commodore Sonny Gray, and has even been compared to Carlos Martinez, Danny Salazar, Tim Lincecum, and Roy Oswalt. Hopefully, he'll be up on a winning ChiSox team in 2016 in a rotation looking like Sale, Fulmer, Quintana, Johnson, Rodon. I like the Roy Oswalt comp for Fulmer. Sale wasn't seen as a definite frontline starter. At least I didn't think so. I have concerns watching Fulmer pitch as well but I'll trust the White Sox on this one. Lots of really smart people think that Fulmer can start.

QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 11:53 PM) Davidson does have a 113 wRC+ in AAA. Is he really doing that badly? He has big power. I'd much rather have him play vs LHP than Beckham or Gillaspie. Understand what he is though. Homers and lots of strikeouts. There's always been this fallacy on this board though that strikeouts are the worst thing in the world. He'd be hated quickly.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) I don't think the teams are on bad terms or anything like that, but you won't see a deal that involves Chris Sale and/or Starlin Castro for sure. I don't think so either. They typically don't trade with each other though for whatever reason.
-
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) I'm surprised his reinstatement got as much traction as it did. I always thought they should wait til he drops dead then reinstate. I mean the guy has a reality TV show, it's pretty clear what his reasons are. $$$ Who cares though? He has over 4,000 hits. Him not being in the HOF is dumb. Ty Cobb and many other terrible humans are in. So stupid.
