  1. Can’t wait to see the terms of this one. Gray is coming off a great year, but a HR/flyball rate that doesn’t seem to be sustainable and will be 34 years old this upcoming season. MLBTR projected he’d get 4/$90M here, but my guess is he clears $100M one way or the other and that would further reinforce that SP will be super costly this off-season.
  2. Not 100% final, but expected per Heyman
  3. The problem is all the baseball writers & insiders are suggesting India would be a major piece for a SP. That is what people are commenting on here.
  4. Article from MLBTR that discusses potential trade partners as well as possible returns. IMO, it’s very clear we’re not going to get much for Eloy. I think a semi post hype prospect that hasn’t been completely ruled a bust and a lottery ticket is about the best we could do. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/looking-for-a-match-in-an-eloy-jimenez-trade.html
  5. With competitive balance and compensation picks, yes technically.
  6. I actually think it would be the final straw to take a lengthy break from the team.
  7. From Jim Bowden…lol:
  8. You still think something might happen soon?
  9. What number do we think he’ll be wearing? Thinking about making my son a custom DeJong jersey for Christmas to thank him for being a little s%*# this year.
  10. 100% agree. Been debating Cease’s value over at that Orioles forum. I’m sticking with Kjerstad/Cowser + Ortiz + lesser third piece as a fair return in this market. A couple of their posters said they’d be willing to pay that, but most wouldn’t do anything higher than Ortiz plus a fringe guy or two. I like Ortiz, but he can’t be the centerpiece of a Cease trade IMO.
  11. Orioles fans think Joey Ortiz and a guy in their teens is a fair deal for Cease? What do you guys think? Is that a move that Getz should make?
  12. Football and baseball barely overlap, so not sure why that matters at all. And good owners invest in their product and give their consumers a reason for consuming it. Jerry refuses to do any of that and then has minions blame the fans for not being able to spend a dollar when you only have 50 cents. It’s hard to imagine any replacement owner could be worse than Jerry and the Sox are a potential sleeping giant with the right person at the very top.
  13. They reinforce how bad he was at his previous job.
  14. No terms yet?
  15. What you hearing Pal? I’ve been meaning to message you. These Whit Merrifield rumors have broken my holiday spirit, so please tell me it’s not him.
  16. I hope we lose +100 games just so I can hear Getz brag about how we were the best defensive team in the league and ignore the fact we sucked a giant fucking you know what.
  17. Lol…Bartolo is definitely top 3! Footlong Comiskey Dog is definitely the worst though. And I agree, would be great to get at least one savage in a Cease trade. Getting Hjerstad from the Orioles is what I’d love to see.
  18. He’s an incredible tank commander…fire him in the off-season.
  19. Real talk, but what would the high end pitchers (non Ohtani) be getting on a two year deal in this market? $80M total? Cease as a 4 win pitcher at $20M would basically have $60M of surplus value. And that’s before factoring in a scarcity premium and some value attributed to a likely compensation pick at the end of his deal.
  20. Lol…I do enjoy the fact that Balta actually believes two months of Giolito would command the same return as two years of Cease just four months later.
  21. Heyman confirmed Nola turned down more money to stay in Philadelphia, which means the market for top end SP is officially insane balls.
  22. An extra year and $22M more than what MLBTR and FG were projecting. And Nola wanted to return to Philadelphia, so it’s possible he took a little less. @Balta1701 - You still think it’s a buyer’s market?
  23. Getting the equivalent of a compensation pick wouldn’t be selling low? We’re talking about what’s effectively a 3rd round pick.
  24. Jordan Montgomery has been less productive overall than Cease the past three years and MLBTR projects he will get 6/$150M while Fangraphs’ crowdsourcing predicts 5/$105M. This is for a 31 year SP who strikes out less than 8 per nine innings and ranked 56th in Stuff+ over the past three seasons. Cease is a full three years younger and ranked 5th in Stuff+ during this same period. Despite a down 2023, I think he’d get a similar contract at minimum and probably even more IMO. Modern front offices would kill to have Cease in their rotation.
