Fully agree.

I’m in utter disbelief anybody could refer to Jerry being a “good steward” of the White Sox. No owner has done more to waste the significant potential of a major sports franchise other than Doland Sterling.
-
@Pal - What you hearing about this rumored LF addition?
-
Trading Hendricks for a catcher to split time with Grandal really doesn’t do it for me to be honest.
-
Nope, just said his source said we had been outbid. Maybe we’re finally winning the Gallo sweepstakes!
-
2B almost certainly will be trade or internal if we sign a free agent OF.
-
It originated from Herb Lawrence and yes I did listen. Unfortunately this may end your Outman dreams ?
-
Where is this Jansen stuff coming from?
-
?
-
I took it as a signing.
-
I really need a Conforto Christmas miracle though
-
Gun to head, I’d guess it’s Gallo. He’s a flawed player but he checks a couple of boxes for us (strong defender, LH, plus power) and most importantly will come fairly cheap with checks Jerry’s number one box.
-
I think we have some, but not $15M. But my point is I don’t think sliding in $15M into our 2024 to 2026 payrolls is going to be the problem. It’s fitting him into this year’s budget that is the challenge given cheap ass Jerry.
-
At the same time @maloney.adam went missing ?
-
They’ve been dead quiet since the Winter Meetings and you know they’ve been chewing at the bit to steal a substantial rumor of any sort.
-
Assuming we have $15M left to spend this off-season, I don’t think signing Benintendi to 4/$60M deal is something we couldn’t pull off. That being said, I’m not sure I’m overly excited about signing a ~2 win OF to a four year deal and I think he might end up getting more like 5/$80M. Conforto will forever remain my dream OF free agent as pathetic as that may be. Such is life as a Sox fan.
-
Or more likely would be acquired via trade. Not a ton of good 2B options.
-
Yup, and it’s my ultimate nightmare.
-
I’ll fucking riot if they sign Peralta. At least Gallo you can dream on a bit.
-
I mean, he’s wrong if we don’t have a new LF come Friday night
-
I’m sad to say I threw $25 at it. Might be setting money on fire, but worth the risk in the small chance this is real.

Yup, that’s the plan! -
Carlos Correa is a Twin - 6 yrs $200M

Yup, these insane contracts prove that the Sox can’t afford to be major players in free agency while Jerry owns the team. While I expect this crazy spending to eventually revert back to more sane levels when one or two of these deals totally blow up, that won’t be during these last couple years of our window. As such, the Sox should strongly consider selling off some short term pieces in Anderson, Hendriks, & Giolito. I don’t think there is any chance Jerry would ok that given the Central is very winnable with a couple mid tier moves, but it would allow us to capitalize off this crazy seller’s market and add some legit controllable talent. And for the record, I think there is zero chance Tim is traded. All signs point to Hendricks being moved to open up space to sign a B/C tier OF free agent. -
I’d pair a theoretical Lowe trade with an OF signing (Conforto ideally) and fund it financially by moving Hendriks for prospects (let’s say Pepiot+). Despite the downgrade at closer, I’d prefer that option vs. going with someone like Peralta in the OF, Sosa/Romy at 2B, and Martin as our only SP depth. I just don’t think you roll back the same crew and think you’re a serious World Series contender next year. We have to fill the same couple of holes that have plagued us for multiple seasons, especially with Jose gone and Grandal likely not the same guy we saw in 2021.
