So you are anti platooning then? Lot of guys can’t hit same side pitching and so far Antonacci is one of them. I think that will change over time, but right now the team would benefit from sitting him against lefties.

I don’t want to go full Caulfield here, but you know Boyer is pushing hard for the Sox to take Roch. Would be an immediate favorite with this fan base.

I think many here are unfamiliar with what prices have been at the trade deadline as of late. Outside of truly elite rentals or guys with extended control, prices aren’t all that crazy. There is also a wide gap between top 100 prospects and “scrub” prospects. Those guys in between have trade value, but are far from guarantees and don’t automatically mean we are punting the future by trading them. Self scouting is key and trading some of those guys to augment this year’s team is going to be key.

Meidroth has been brutal this month, but is also 24 years old and still growing as a big league player. He will need to make some adjustments because the K rate has been crazy as of late, which is wild for someone with his natural bat to ball skills. Without putting any real thought into it, it does feel like he’s way too far off the plate. I don’t remember when this first happened, but feels like it was in the month of June and doesn’t seem to have worked out for him.

Grichuk can’t really hit RHP and is a negative defender. Don’t see how this is an upgrade at all.

How many of those 100 players have played for the White Sox though? And for those that did, when did they play for them? Seems like the majority of info in this going to be second hand and outdated. Not suggesting there aren’t things worth criticizing the org for (there are plenty), but thinking the findings of this poll are somehow meaningful is a massive leap. By the way, none of this has anything to do with you but rather the OP has drawn many conclusions.

How many of the 73 respondents are active players or played with the team last year. I hope the answer is a high amount for your sake, because you have drawn so many conclusions here.

The question is who can absorb money at the deadline. Sox coming into the season with a bottom 5 payroll but seeing attendance well above expectations may give us more financial ammo to play with than many other teams. That could help us tremendously when it comes to Sonny Gray.

I fully agree. That’s probably the most obvious move.

Thinking through this more, I think we need one SP and one or two relievers, including at minimum someone who could slot into the closer spot. I will continue to shout Gray’s name for the SP spot. A top three of Martin, Gray, & Burke is good enough in a season like this. Schultz as the #4 starter is fine if healthy. Kay isn’t good, but is competent as the #5 for now. Ideally one of Shane Smith, McDougal, Sandlin, Hagen Smith, or Adams can knock him out of the rotation with time. Some of the others can eventually reinforce the bullpen. No thoughts on a specific closer option, but we definitely need someone who can slot into the 9th if we want flexibility to use Taylor in earlier, high leverage innings. Hudson & Newcomb are your other high leverage guys. Dominguez can be a middle relief guy. Need three more relievers from the pool above, the various AAA arms, and possibly trade. But really don’t see an internal option for the 9th that we would feel good about.

Attendance was nice, but parking & concessions were a mess. It’s crazy to me they can’t handle a big crowd.
